I can't remember the last time I was this engrossed in a game. It's clearly a labour of love.

I've read a few negative reviews which state that the conversations on philosophy, religion, etc. aren't deep enough, and while that's a legitimate opinion, I don't think it's a failing of the game.

I think the intent was to explore religious, philosophical, and social themes within the context of the lives of normal people during the 16th century. While people's lives during that time were heavily influenced by those things (as they are now), they wouldn't have spent all day sat around discussing them in-depth (as most people don't now), which is hard to do when you can't read and spend all day toiling in the fields.

I think Pentiment does a great job of exploring deep and interesting ideas through the lens of everyday experience.
