This a true gem of the 90's. Although getting on 30 years old, by no means let that put you off cus FA's game play is quite unique in itself involving asteroids, ships, sats & missiles. The colony management is some what limited, however the ship, sat & missile control is really good. Secret agents can add diversity although notorious to all so aliens don't mind negotiating no covert operations. Colony supervisors are for hire to help you manage your asteroids. Traders come & go selling a variety of wares, medicines, illegal info gossip, ores, missiles & killer viruses. Six alien races to choose from in set scenarios or in a custom game. Again the options are limited here but can still bring on an enjoyable compelling game. The graphics & animations speak for the time but are still good.

There's still a lot more good points to mention but I could be here for a while telling you. Suffice to say, you wont be disappointed.

Has a follower of the series I found this game's been a little disappointing.

1st off is the camera. It's positioning creation is highly questionable. The maps are city based so there's lotsa tall buildings which disrupt viewing drastically.

In the base game there's no difference in types of vehicles either. They've been the same all through the series.

However. This is expected cus little could be added differently to do the same tasks. It just feels stale using the same ones from previous games. for followers of the series. Mods are the only option for differences.

For first time purchasers of the series, EM20 could seem a real blast.

The sale price of £8.99 has just ended which I purchased - only to discover these points. So to anyone paying the full price these points should be considered. I refunded even at this price!!!

Endless??
Yes. But its tediously the same all through.
Injuries Random??
No. All the same.
Different play throughs??
No. Same wounds, same hands just different character portraits.

Last words:
If the wounds randomised with different amounts the game would be a little more interesting. For the price tag - AVOID!

I came across this game whilst browsing for titles under £12 & Im sooooo glad I did cus I might not of ever discovered it under its own name & what it represents: "Tin Can."

The game puts you in an escape pod being launched from a large exploding Spacecraft.(cutscene) It is then upto you to survive has long has you can by managing the different systems via there components aboard the "Pod" from steller "events" occuring in space - which are (ATM) Ice Nebulas, Electrical Nebulas, Asteriod Collisions & Star Proximities. Each of which event requires different ways of handling your Pods systems & there components to survive them. In saying that there is a learning curve.

Three modes of play are available: Sandbox, Normal, Hardcore. Scenarios are to follow so is a tutorial which is due anytime.

Sandbox Mode
Recently Sandbox has been updated with the features below. Press ESC to access them. This is the ideal way to begin learning the different systems & components. It is perfect for knowing what things do, where they go & how things work together. A Tech Manual describes everything. Have a good old mess about & experiment at your leisure!!!

Summoning Events. Ice, Cold, etc.
Item Damage. Toggle Components damage on/off
Perfect Atmosphere. Sets Atmosphere to perfect regardless of components condition.
Fixed Temperature Same as Atmosphere.
Unlimited repairs The Repair Station has unlimited parts to repair components.

More is to follow.

Normal play
Gives the opportunity to experience what the games about at a slower pace by being faced with different events, Cold, Electric Nebulas, Asteroid collisions & Approaching stars (other events to follow) that require device interaction, repairs & self learning of how best to survive those events. Use the Tech manual has your guide. However a tutorial is becoming available any time soon. Also a good community of players is being established ready to lend a hand to anyone in need.

Hardcore play
I believe was at the heart of the game which creates a PVP leaderboard competition style game by determining who can survive the longest possible time.

I pointed a concern out to the Devs about the Sandbox mode. It simply did not feel like a 'Sandbox' mode considering has to what we know & expect Sandbox games to be about.

On that note the Devs began working on Sandbox features almost straight away!!! I was soooo gobsmacked to see things were added within a few hours!!! Now for that to of occurred that gives these Devs a very high credit in my book cus I've never known any Devs in any game add things that quickly before.

Wrapping up.
Any game is only has good has the Devs that write & support it & with this game in the hands of these quality Devs I believe Tin Can is going to be exceptional. The game is old timer friendly too!!!

At the time I was in two minds wether to purchase this or the game: Raft. However its price influenced this games purchase. Ive no doubt in saying that Ive really enjoyed playing this game & although being cheap n cheerful It surprisingly showed no bugs or glitches whatsoever during all my playtime.

Crafting is quite limited but in saying that for everything the game has to offer noone could dare argue or complain for the price.

Ive recently moved on to Raft now but still dont regret purchasing this. Ive looked at SOR has a sort of taster to the build up of Raft & although some things are kinda the same, Raft is somehow a 'different' game.

Wrapping up.
- Cheap & cheerful.
- Suits low end machines & Laptops.
- A good survival starter.

If price is your concern, go for this first. You wont regret it.

Similar to a retro game called Star Flight on Mega Drive in the 90's.

Im kinda in the middle about this game really so:

Yes - A good game with some very good aspects.

No - Fast paced, quick fuel usage & crew morale issues which cost credits to keep lifted. Even a simple speech costs credits!!!!

Id like to say this games the best cooking game going & in some ways it is. However CS is seriously let down by its game mechanics - there just dreadful. After the tutorials, I tried playing Sandbox at first just to make everyday basics: Cheese on toast, Bacon & Egg sandwich, etc. But by goodness.... Its easier to make them literally!!! Using tools like the Spatula & Tongs are frustrating. The placing of items to make up the dish is worse. The chopping of some ingredients dont chop down enough. Cheese stays mega thick & dosnt melt. You cant make "French Fries" at all. How you time things is just... My goodness!!!

My personal opinion is CS would be much better suited for a VR game only.

Despite being a Factorio clone FCM is a good game. However saying that, Factorio is far better.

The main concept of Size Matters puts you in the shoes like some kinda mad Scientist dashing around a lab attempting to use different pieces of apparatus on ingredients to process, code, revert, restore, pour, microwave all to find the Antidote to stop you shrinking!!!

To help you along, you search for ingredients & information Notepads scattered about the lab. Each Notepad has a formula of some kind written upon it. Putting all this together plus wall board notes creates a chain of actions needed to be performed. Its then a process of elimination which you can follow up to a point until you arrive at the last prefinal ingredients. These prefinal ingredients conclude you to create the final Key ingredients 1, 2 & 3. You then put them into the Antidote Producer to produce the Antidote - grow to normal size & complete the game within the chosen time frame...... Got all tha? Good. Straight forward, simple, huh? ..... WRONG!!!!

The Ingredients:
With a cosmetic variety of colour & flask shapes implemented adds a good science look & feel to the game. Some can be visible & others are hiding, find them!! Your going to come across some looooong fabricated sciencyyy ingredient names too. Which is ironic cus the Periodic Table of Elements is displayed on a wall!!! LOL. Oh, & don't be surprised to see names you maybe familiar with! Tip: Grouping them together provides quicker checking & selection. Holding distance is controlled by with the mouse wheel.

Notepads/Wall Boards:
The heart of the games drive. These contain the crucial information you need to act upon. Notepads can easily be unnoticed on shelves cus there flat &, dependant upon the amount available, two can be found in one draw. Notepads are easily readable while holding cus there wordings upright & distance is controlled by with the mouse wheel. Tip: Standing them against things & walls allows quick distant reading.

The Apparatus:
Note: Make sure you stand close enough to each piece of equipment so that it is outlined white indicating its interactable. All Apparatus time durations are selectable.

The Microwave.
Is used to convert a single ingredient into another usable one. (*)

Chemical Processor.
This device Is used to combine any two ingredients into one single ingredient. (*)

Code Combiner.
Converts ingredients into another after entering a code key which can be input using the KP. (*)

The Restorer.
Now be careful.... Checking the Breakable Flasks option & setting the Breakforce level at 3 in the Play menu adds a more realistic approach by allowing flasks to smash when dropped!! I recommend playing with these settings. When this occurs the smashed flasks ingredient name(s) appear in The Restorers menu. Selecting a name instructs the device to restore that ingredients Flask.

Antidote Producer.
Once you've discovered all three Key ingredients insert them into this machine to produce your Antidote. You will then become normal size & the game ends with a small stat review.

(*) Indicates a failed ingredient attempt procedure occured labeled '????'. (See Reverter)

The Reverter.
This apparatus fully reverts any ingredient to its original flasked state. PHEW!!!

Play Menu
The settings here are the very heart of Size Matters. With sooooo many things to tweak you can create a session as easy or hard, simple or complex has you prefer so that each game can have diversity, challenge & variety. Almost everything is optionable: Movement speed, Height starting/ending, Jump height, Double mid air jump times, etc. Including shrinking time - sixty minutes maximum. To reset back to default settings, click Normal. For greater depth & challenge many options are randomizable. Even the Apparatus time durations are changeable. All of this will pit you against wits & quick decisive thinking when playing a timed game. Did I say timed game? Oh yes, butthere is a way you can pause shrinking. This can give you a relaxed, take your time long complex session if all you want to be is just the creative experimental Scientist. More is planned to follow....

Wrapping up:
Mazen Games's Size Matters was influenced by a previous similar game. They flasked a game plus there own ideas then put both Flasks into a Chemical Processor & produced Size Matters. The results of which created another levelled more compelling more accomplished game about science & intrigue. Complexity & diversity assured. This one aspect alone puts Size Matters in its own class & sets the standard for future games in this new genre to follow.

10/10.

Works fine on W7 32bit. Upon purchase at a ridiculous sale price, I noticed in some reviews players have called the game a little Gem & in all the time I've played I just couldn't agree more. I wish I discovered it years ago. In addition, its well worth the full asking price too.

The games close in parallel to Freelancer - trading, upgrades, vehicle/weapon purchases, unlimited side quests, etc - only vehicle ground based instead of in Space. For an oldie title but with the same appeal of Freelancer will just keep coming back now & again for more.

The only major flaw for me is the rep mechanic used for the factions in the game. Unlike Freelancer & others similar, you always knew where you stood with factions. Although a tab exists to show your current status with factions, there's just no way to determine which way your swaying towards them becoming either favoured or unfavoured. In saying that however, I've discovered your hostilities towards friendly factions will remain damaged for a time until you leave your current zone or you pay someone in a bar to instantly repair there non hostility.

With lots to do, places to go & endless playability, HTA is a must have.
