There is a lot to love about Fallout 76 but there is a lot of annoyances too. For a game going on two years old this November (2020), it still has a lot of bugs. I would recommend patience for those who play this, and I think the game is more fun for people who play with others. It's a fun game but I would wait until it goes on sale as there has been long content droughts.
PVP was a major part of the game at launch but has since been scaled way back in the normal Adventure mode. PVP is now a very minor part of the game now that Nuclear Winter was removed. Basically don’t get Fallout 76 if you are mainly interested in PVP
The Seasons content is mostly just filler/busy work to keep players occupied until the next major content patch. The seasons have no real quests or story content. You do daily and weekly chores which give you points to go up in rank to unlock more stuff you can build items for your character and camp. Season rewards have no weapon or armor upgrades but have some useful items for your camp and one-use items for yourself. Generally, how much you care about gaining ranks in the Seasons depends on how much you care about building up your camp and changing how you look with weapon/armor skins.
The last major content patch was in April and the next one has been pushed back to sometime next year. Wastelanders introduced NPCs back into the game which improved the story content over the base game. The Wastelanders quests start at level 20 and can be done in a week or two but you will require at least a month of additional grinding (doing the same 3-4 quests everyday) to unlock the best weapons and armor.
I don’t recommend buying atoms EVER in this game as items you get are usually overpriced toys but if you want to buy something in the atom shop, I recommend just getting one month of Fallout 1st. You get more atoms then you would just buying them directly and other useful features like unlimited junk space which lasts even after the month of Fallout 1st is over.
Do I recommend this game? Honestly, it depends on the person. If you recently got into Fallout or like post-apocalyptic worlds that don’t take themselves too seriously then it’s worth it. I don’t recommend if you primarily play solo as there isn’t much to do once you have explored the map. If you are on a limited budget or only buy a few games a year do not buy this. There are better and more valuable experiences elsewhere. If you finished Fallout 4 and really wished there was more content or that you could play with friends then maybe this if for you.
Notes on long lasting bugs/issues
-Often damage you do to enemies isn't recorded which means you have to use extra ammo to take enemies out
-Mole Rats and Radscorpions break your stealth immediately just by being underground. I haven't seen other enemies do this.
-Mole Rats and Radscorpians can dig (read:teleport) to any place there is a floor regardless if is on a different level or completely unnatural to do so.
-crash to desktop vary in frequency and may depend on what server you are on at the time. Making sure you have the latest graphics driver helps but is far from a guaranteed solution.
-If you get disconnected from the game there is no way to get back to that particular server unless your in-game friend is on it.
-often some servers are more unstable then others. There is no way for the player to know exactly which server they are on so if your server is unstable the easiest option is to log out then back in to hop to a different server
-enemies aronud you sometimes die randomly even before you damage them which means you don't get XP or are able to loot them.
-Enemy sound is not accurate. Enemies that are 50 feet away or on another floor sound like they are right next to you so it is hard to tell where an enemy is by sound alone.

Nov 19, 2020 update: Server stability seems worse lately. I still play daily and my issues haven't been bad but some people it is much worse. The reason for "Not Recommended" is because Steam doesn't have a "Maybe" option and I wouldn't recommend this game for everyone despite playing it myself for most of the two years.

April 19, 2022 update: Server stability is very much an issue as well as crashes to desktop. Some of the new events are fun but if you haven't come back by now you might as well wait until expedentions in the Fall. For new players, I recommend buying a certain game service for a month and trying it out. HINT: Game service is owned by Bethesda's new owner.
