I already own TF|2 but would gladly pay €3 to skip Origin. When launching the game, it silently boots up EA's new app, but it's a lot less annoying than Origin. You barely notice it.

The game itself is one of the best shooters on the market. It's sad that EA had such a bad timing with the release and a lack of marketing farther down the line.
The campaign is great as well as multiplayer. Just make sure to install the Northstar mod to play on custom servers as the regular ones have been abandoned by EA.

Pro tip: Add the launch option "-northstar" without quotations after installing Northstar to automatically start the mod when launching TF|2 through Steam.
