By far the best competitive game I have ever played in my life. I have spent so much time already enjoying myself. Even though the game tends to be very unbalanced in terms of netcode or gameplay, I have to say that the devs listen so much to the players. They pay attention to almost every feedback from them, it makes me feel that we just have that amazing connection with them, as a community. Their subreddit r/Rainbow6 is moderated by legit developers that are supposed to listen to every major feedback. The developer team keeps making amazing visual upgrades very often, and most of the time it just turns out to be even better than before. Mostly!
Their marketing team, on the other hand, is not very professional. The operators are actually available for in-game currency that you can earn by just playing. The rarity system of the weapons is very chaotic, for example, from my experience, the weapon skins that are listed as "common" or "uncommon" look better than those that are "legendary". The prices are also very chaotic.
One final advice: DON'T EVER BUY THE STARTER EDITION. Yes, it's cheap if it also has a discount, but it's just not worth it. I know people that have grinded for 400 hours and yet they didn't still unlock all of the 24 current operators. Just be careful and reconsider if it is really worth it. I can already tell you, it's not. If you want to grind fairly, buy the Standard Edition, but if you don't want to, get the better editions where you get the Year 1 and Year 2 operators. I've gone the hard way. I bought Starter edition, immediately regretted it, bought the Standard one, was feeling bitter that the DLC operators cost so much, and then I bought the operator bundles with R6 Credits. It wasn't cheap. I also bought the Year 3 pass, but I did that because I want to support the game. Apart from their marketing system, it's just deserved. The developer team does listen to our opinions and feedback. That's a very important thing.
It's a money-sucker, but I can tell you, these 220 hours that I have played are so much worth it. I have found many friends despite the usually toxic community in this game, now I'm in a clan and I'm very happy to be a part of it.
