So far so good, after taking awhile to unpack anyway (to be expected).

1440p max everything including all options under advanced settings and I'm getting between 45 and 60 fps at all times in the city (haven't been to the desert just yet) on a GTX 980 with a light OC and i7-2600K with 8gb memory. No AA though, frames drop to mid 40's with 2x.

The game is gorgeous, those saying it's not are either butthurt about a technical issue or seriously need their eyes checked. It's absolutely night and day from both console versions (I played both PS ones). Everything from improved lighting, tessellation, AO, vastly improved shadows and shaders, the works, is inlcuded, and all very customizable.

GIve it a go!

Edit 10/2017

Well at this point Rockstar and co have outdone themselves. Not only have they not released any sort of expansion for this game outside of GTA Online, but their publisher Take Two has also shut down the main mod tool developer which effectively prevents easy access to mods for GTA 5. GTA Online honestly seems to exist solely to sell Shark cards. Red Dead Redemption is still not on PC, and RDR 2 has been anounced, likely also not for PC.

This all in mind, I've simply added Sharkcardstar and Take Two to my list of developers and publishers that I won't support again in the future, along with EA, Bethesda, Bioware and also recently, Warner Bros (you know things are bad when game publications are telling players how to avoid real money shops).

Edit 03/18

So the fallout from the Take Two thing has blown over and nothing has really changed. OpenIV is still in business but I've avoided using any mods relying on it due to them breaking every update (can't tell Steam to not update it, could probably revert versions though with a mod). I've been working on modding the game to allow for DLC vehicles to be spawned in single player, and I noticed just how many vehicles are in GTA Online and not GTA 5 story mode. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if there were as many addon vehicles as there are in the stock game.

Just another shame to add to the pile. It makes literally 0 sense to keep everything Online-centric, except for the making money hand over fist part on Rockstar's end. Thanks again, Rockstar/Take Two, from myself and my wallet.

Save your money for the DX11 edition since your save games don't transfer over.
