Very chill game, if you can call it one. It has helpful production tools like to-do lists, habit trackers, and repeatable timers to help you focus on your tasks, and your reward for doing these is a currency that you can use to customize your avatar and living space. It's really nice to customize my room and outfit to match the current vibe that I'm feeling, especially since it's mostly an experience that you leave in the background and look at occasionally. If you're someone who doesn't have to worry about schoolwork or housework then I could see this being kind of a useless tool, but I think most people have some thing they need to focus on from time to time.

The spirit collecting aspect is fun and creates an easy puzzle solving experience too, though it really just ties back into encouraging you to be productive. If you're solely looking for a creature collecting game, I think you'd be disappointed here as well. The only thing I'm worried about is that once I've unlocked all of the spirits (a time consuming process; the game really wants you to be doing other things while you're busy collecting spirits), some of that progression that I like will be gone, which could make me less motivated to keep playing this. But for now, the process is relaxing and rewarding.

Overall, it's important to approach this game with the right mindset if you're gonna get anything out of it. It's less of a game and more of a vibes based productivity tool, which I didn't even know that I wanted and I'm glad that I have. But there isn't much game here, and anyone who comes in expecting that will get bored quickly. I wouldn't trade anything for this to have more "gameplay" though, it does exactly what I need it to do and I'm happy with it. If you have chores piling up around that house like I do, or really need to start working on some healthy habits (like I do), then I think this will help you work through that in a satisfying way.

love this game to death, lost countless days and nights to it when i was younger. the massive bot problem makes the game unplayable and valve refuses to do anything about it. play on community servers for a better time, but dont give valve money for this game while they let it die

Excellent city builder and resource manager game. I've always thought that creating a new city in a game and building it up is the best part, and Against the Storm basically centers around that whole aspect and makes it fun, challenging, and rewarding to go through. The metaprogression and increasing levels of difficulty are very satisfying to achieve as well. Highly recommended.
