The gameplay is fun however there is not enough content here to justify the price even though it's already cheap. The campaign is around 30-40 minutes long and then you are just left with the endless mode. Personally I can't see myself replaying the endless mode or the campaign much as the level design primarily consists of moving forward between vehicles and shooting enemies which is fun at first but the novelty wears off quite quickly.

If there was a middle thumb I would give it but I'm giving it a thumbs down because I don't think many people will want to pay 7 or 8 quid for a game that they might only play for an hour or two and that's when you play every mode and unlock all the achievements not just the campaign.

This game is such a letdown coming from Vermintide 2. It lacks the interesting characters and world of Vermintide 2 and the enemy and weapon variety seems to be a lot more shallow this time around. The performance isn't very good either and both of my friends that I played with also suffered from performance issues, none of which were game breaking but they were still noteworthy, for example I was experiencing microstutters and my friend was experiencing FPS drops and an inconsistent framerate despite having a top of the range PC and playing on medium settings.

There's clearly a lot of potential in the concept of a 40k version of Vermintide but this just doesn't deliver on it.

The Ascent is a twin stick shooter with action RPG elements that is set in a cyberpunk world with an incredible amount of detail. The environments are stunning and there is a wide variety of enemy types. Your character has a decent amount of ways in which you can customise them and the combat is the highlight of the game as it's very satisfying. If you want a good shooter to play with a lot of action and satisfying progression then I would recommend the game. I have also played the game on my PC and my Steamdeck and I have experienced good performance on both devices. The mouse and keyboard controls are good and playing on a controller also feels good.

However, it isn't without fault. Over the fourteen hours I've played so far I've experienced two crashes which is minimal but one was after the final boss and I had to redo the final few encounters again which was incredibly frustrating. The game also has some serious difficulty spikes that seem to come out of nowhere and this happens three or four times throughout the base game, however I did think the DLC had better balancing but this may of been because I was using a high level character with the Dealbreaker fully upgraded which is the gun that has the highest DPS in the game. It's also worth noting that I played the game solo so this may have been where the difficulty came from as it's possible to play with up to three other players. The story is also fairly uninteresting and the way dialogue is handled doesn't help as the camera lingers onto the NPC you are speaking to while you just click options and your character doesn't actually speak which makes it harder to engage with what's going on. The sidequests are also nothing special and if they are below your characters level there isn't much point completing them.

Overall I think The Ascent is a good game that nails the shooting which is the main thing you will be doing but it could be fleshed out in other areas such as the story or the sidequests.

This game is so good because it lets you get straight into the gameplay without long exposition and you can head in whatever direction you want right from the beginning. The combat is fun and challenging but you can get back into the action quick as there is generally a checkpoint before most encounters similar to a game like Hotline Miami for example.

Despite the fast paced combat the music and visuals make this game quite relaxing to play, the exploration segments also add to this. Bosses, weapons and upgrades are also well done and allow you to carry out some mad combos once you get a lot of the abilities and gear unlocked.

Devs should've just made a stealth game. No point even adding a combat mechanic really as on harder difficulties getting in a firefight is instant death and making stealth kills happen in turn based combat just gets tedious. The whole game revolves around sneaking and picking enemies off one by one but you basically just stunlock someone and all take turns to shoot them with silenced weapons and rinse and repeat for the whole game.

There's not really any fun if combat = instant death and stealth kills are not challenging but just tedious as you constantly have to pray for good RNG that you can stunlock an opponent or get a crit so they don't alert every enemy on the map.

Banger soundtrack and fun gameplay so what's not to love

Only downside here is to 100% everything it only took like 7 hours but it's got a lot of replay value with the scoring system if you're into climbing the leaderboards.

After 100%ing FEZ within a day of beginning my playthrough I have to say it is one of the best platformers I have ever played. What makes it so good is that it's incredibly relaxing to play.

This comes from multiple areas such as the soundtrack, for one the soundtrack is well made and really adds to the game and when this is put alongside the art style it just puts you in a trance. The gameplay and how the 3D mechanic is utilised is really smooth as well despite it not reaching its full potential in my opinion as there aren't a lot of times where rapid flipping of the environment is required. The way the areas can basically be explored in whichever order you choose for the most part also adds to the game and the carefree nature of it.

My only real issue I take with the game is that some of the puzzles are ridiculously obscure and one took the internet bruteforcing it to solve. It is irritating to have to go and look for a guide mid play session because some puzzles were made basically impossible without people on the internet bruteforcing or datamining the game for the solution. This however is counteracted as if you aren't going for 100% completion most cubes can be obtained through platforming so you won't have to worry about this as much.

I went back into this game having played it years ago on the 360 and having played the new Contracts games in the series. I had completely forgot how bad this game was, I enjoy the newer games in the series but my god this was awful.

The first major issue is that the AI have consistent aim issues even on normal difficulty, basically snapping to the player even when you must be around a kilometre away on a tower and they are using assault rifles.

The other problem I had with the game was the level design which was a mixed bag. I liked the levels that allowed for a more open approach and I also enjoyed the missions that required stealth even the ones that were scripted and not as open, however I strongly disliked the linear combat focused missions where you have to use an assault rifle.

This isn't just because of the design itself and links into the next issue which is the combat. I would actually enjoy these sections but the combat is god awful, especially since the sensitivity when you aim completely ♥♥♥♥♥ itself with anything that isn't a sniper. Not to mention that the recoil is so exaggerated that you barely hit ♥♥♥♥, it makes the marked one in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. look like a professional marksman.

After all that the only positive to this game is that certain levels had potential if they were built upon more which they would be in the later games in the series that are actually good and worth playing.

I nearly forgot as well just to say how ♥♥♥♥ the story is, I didn't even pay attention and started skipping it halfway through, it makes Modern Warfare look like a piece of Shakespeare's literature. Plus what the ♥♥♥♥ was even the point of calling this game Sniper when out of the 3.6 hours it took me to finish it half of it was spent using an assault rifle. Angry Joe would blush at the length of this game, it's not even a pound an hour that you are getting. Do yourself a favour and buy one of the other games in the series, specifically Contracts which has a lot more to it.

Totally Accurate Battlegrounds parodies other battle royale games so well that it is just as bad as them, probably a bit too accurate I would say in that regard.
