Poorly optimised, Meh story, but if you're absolutely sure your PC can run the game then the combat is pretty fun and the exploration is great! A very soft recommend but thankfully the character creation is quite amazing.

Oh man oh man they're all so hot like Chun-Li looks so good for a GILF (she's 55) and we have a muscle mommy too, plenty of exposed feet I just KNOW Blank and Zangief have tasty soles, and my goodness the physics and animation are so goood!!

Now that I have that off my chest let me get into actually reviewing the game properly. It's amazing OVERALL. The game is so accessible for people new to fighting games and definitely allows for some awesome ways to test combos and frame data in the practice mode. In addition to this the game has a separate long single player mode called World Tour, which isn't great narratively but is awesome for ingraining the fundementals as you experiment with styles and moves and inputs through either the mini-games or the overworld battles. Battles across the mode have a gimmick to them that teach you on how to beat someone who uses certain moves, great for understanding your tools when playing the main game with the main cast.

The Battle hub mode is a great casual mode for people to play with randoms in a set server. People across all skill levels can just play sets with whoever or with friends and can play through old retro games along with doing avatar battles which are broken as hell but can be funny. The hub however is only as fun as the people in it so expect there to be folks who sour your mood when they lose, even in a casual setting there are people who take the game way too seriously and want to farm stats for their profile. The last mode, allows for story battles and arcade battles and normal play along with ranked. You can practice plenty there as well as mentioned and practice combo trials that teach you strings depending on your controls.

Negatives for the game are the prices for DLC and Battle passes, not only that but post launch support has been dreadful most of the times. Not the end of the world since the actual game is still really good and well optimised and feels complete but updates and events are lackluster and surprisingly bare when you consider that this is CAPCOM we're talking about.

Overall again, the game is amazing and I've connected to a lot of people because of it, events and rewards that rotate weekly could use a bit of a revamp but even the fighters seem somewhat balanced since the tools available at least help with trying to read your opponent. You definitely benefit from learning ALL the moves characters can do as well if you struggle against a character.

The game itself is phenomenal even with some of the cheap tricks a lot of enemies pull, plenty of trial and error but souls at the later stage are a huge grind to farm if you want to invest in long term builds to carry you into new game +. The gameplay is smooth and so fluid, the boss movesets really do characterise them as people as well and often times you'll find yourself surprised by any new moves they pull out when they're desperate. It provides layers to boss encounters that feel like either some have an ace up their sleeve or others use their basic moves but in combinations that both make sense but also bump up the fight difficulty.

It is unfortunate that the game still has restrictions on random players joining based on level because for people living in regions far from the game's servers hoping someone finds your summon sign is common if you want to repeat bosses. Especially since there is a system in place to scale down player levels to the host's level. Regardless most of the game I experienced alone, and a good amount of sections and bosses I tried to finish with friends and randoms to experience what co-op was like and farm sun medals and the community is fun if you actively avoid elitists. Invasions as a system is still the same, still constant, but I've barely encountered any cheaters. Thanks to the invaders who've given me free items before fighting me though. <3

As someone who builds for strength and to be somewhat tanky I'm still pretty sad that shields aren't all that useful for blocking, more reliable to dodge but some have their handy passive quirks so it isn't so bad.

Admittedly surprised in fact that the original games came out around 2009-2012 because a lot of the combat has mostly aged well! The first game I can say, that for its time, is adjusted well for 2021 still holds up as the story and the choices while being simple enough to understand do compound on one another quite well all the way down to the last game. Going into the story and dipping your toes into for the first time made it feel like the games were not all that connected or that the lore was not fleshed out. The first game is still great but feels simple and straightforward, plenty of moments in the level design that you can feel was a product of the 2000s but you tend to understand why the game hooked in plenty of people...

...because when we get to the second game??? WOW does the quality ramp up, LIKE HEAVILY. Not only does the plot of the first game feel like the perfect opener but various moments in the first game feel like they're leading up to something as you explore more of the lore of the second and meet more of the characters. The second game is where you spend time getting to know plenty of the characters past and present while trying to manage your time. That's one issue I have with the second game as there are moments where a ticking clock is present that advances time in the main plot which I guess adds to the weight of your choices and adds tension but I'm not a fan of that type of system, or maybe not a fan of how the second game sets it up because there isn't much indication that the clock is present. Plenty of content to grind as new features are introduced to upgrade and expand your arsenal and plenty more world-building, stunning visuals, more choices to make that impact the end because the end is VERY important, love that the game rewards you so much for exploring,

The final game I won't say much in detail as it's practically one huge spoiler but seeing choices made in the first game follow through to the second and now the third feels cathartic even if the payoffs aren't sometimes touched on as much as you'd want them to be. Sometimes you forget about some outcomes of choices you made early into playing the trilogy until you encounter them in the third game and GOOD LORD the scale of the game is handled so well! It makes your time in the games feel like they amounted to something and while I had hoped for a larger roster of people to use in missions the ones we do get are still great! Minus one person who you barely interact with but at least they're hot so they get a pass. Worth mentioning but controls across all three games are mostly the same and saves carrying over do give you some neat starting bonuses to jump-start the transition to a new game so that's great!

Once the game ended I felt hallow and empty, satisfied but unsure of what to do next. Still glad the game was gifted to me and that I got to experience what plenty have felt going into the series blind. Definitely recommend getting the Legendary Edition if you haven't played the trilogy. Modding is actually fairly easy and made simple thanks to the modding community, mainly used quality of life mods to remove the tedium (infinite sprint, planet scanning being slow, Normandy moving slow etc.). EA Launcher doesn't interfere much with the game in my experience and through my entire playthrough it managed to behave so I'm happy for that. Also Turians, Krogans, Geth, Quarians etc. are very hot so I understand why people are freaky about them, I've seen the art in the wild despite not knowing anything about the game but I understand now.

It seems that CDPR have learned their lesson with the game after that disastrous launch as they currently have shipped out patches to fix the games issues so when I started playing I noticed zero to no bugs. The game is going to get an overhaul soon with the DLC coming in September so my personal review may not be all too valid once that happens. Overall I enjoyed the game despite there not being much "punk" in the game as many have pointed out.

The game is pretty short if you want to rush the main story, the meat comes with all the side missions and honestly I came to love the characters in Night City, I can't weigh in on how much your choices matter in the game as I've only done one play-through but what I can say is that later parts of the game, at least when you make THE big decision, there isn't much player input beyond that point, so you may be disappointed with not having decisions to do some things that you might have hoped to do. Just more of a fair warning without providing spoilers. The main story is OK nonetheless, side missions are interesting enough to not feel like a chore and have plenty of moments that are genuinely charming, designs for the clothes and weapons are pretty neat. Night city is AMAZING visually, however a good amount of stuff in the city and during cutscenes are definitely just set dressing, even so I can say that it's easy to get immersed in the environment and hard not to just take the scenic route to your next destination.

The game plays well at least in my experience, gun-play is snappy and responsive, modifications and level up quirks range from trivial percentage increases to straight up quality of life fixes and crafting requires learning a lot of perks too so keep that in mind. Quick-hacks can honestly make the game feel trivial sometimes to the point were one of the final bosses gets their HP halved when activating one and honestly you can just cheese a lot of situations and ESPECIALLY when you want to grind for achievements too. Overall the game is OK now, it definitely could be better for sure no matter how optimised it is the story is quite... meh? but honestly the side-quests are pretty good, though watch Cyberpunk Edgerunners if you find that the main game is lacking in a hard hitting plot because the show is honestly REALLY good.
