The game has been pretty fun. Never heard of it till yesterday but I'd say its worth the price. Needs a few patches for sure. Some visual glitches here and there. I also encountered a bug where if you pick up the first anchor early, the game doesn't recognize it as finishing the task so I had to do the first drive again. Other than that, I have enjoyed it and will continue to play. The mannequins in the road give really good hugs. FOR FREE!

I know some people have been hating on this game for "not delivering" or whatever but Bethesda has been pretty upfront about what this game will be like and what it will and will not have so do your research before buying.

Here are my impressions of star field:
First things first, to address something I know a lot of people freaked out over and I personally was a bit worried about, the loading screens between landing and exiting planets. Yes they exist but they aren't that bad. For me, maybe 5 seconds tops, less even. I thought I would hate it but honestly, I don't, however, I can see it being an issue for some people so do what you will with that info. (Edit: As I played through it more I have become increasingly aware of the loading screens. They are quite annoying and I find myself wanting the ability to perform my own landing and take off) Another big thing I was worried about was bugs and the overall janky feeling that tends to come with Bethesda games. In the first 120 minutes I was pleasantly surprised I didn't find anything. Sure, I bet if you go looking for them, you'll find them. But as a casual gamer just exploring and playing the game normally, I didn't see anything worth noting. (Edit: I have noticed some here and there after 13 hours but nothing game breaking or even immersion altering imo.) The one thing I was trying to find issues with was the NPCs. Something I hated about Fallout 4 was the way the NPCs moved and interacted and talked. It just felt so artificial. But at the very start the Star field I was actually surprised by how nice the NPCs looked and talked. I have yet to test out ship building but I heard its one of the best parts so I will definitely give that a try soon once I'm no longer broke. But I'm not gonna write a glowing review for a game I only have 2 hours on so here is some info I have gathered from other sources for the experiences others have had. There is some "Bethesda jank" so I would say to go into this with that in mind, from my experience, I got that jank immediately in Fallout 4 but here, I haven't seen it yet so we'll see.

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A STAR CITIZEN LIKE GAME THIS ISN'T IT Star Field is nothing like Star Citizen and imo can barely be compared to No Man's Sky. They style, the gameplay, the story, all of it is just too different between these games. I love space games in general so I know I will love Star Field but if you're not a fan of the genre as a whole and you're expecting something like Star Citizen or No Man's Sky, you're probably gonna have to wait a while till something like that comes along cuz I don't think this will be it.

As of now, would I recommend this game? Absolutely. I can see this game becoming one of those games, like Skyrim and Fallout, that people play for many years to come and I can't wait to see what kinds of mods the community makes. (Apart from the edits, everything I said was in the first 3 hours of playing and after an extra 10 hours, I still stand by everything I said. This game is still worth the money spent and I have yet to find a reason to dislike it.) See you across the stars folks!

Update 50+ hours:

Still love the game. I understand why people might not have liked the story. I think your opinion on it may change based on how you go about doing the main story. I did a lot of side stories throughout my time through the main. I would only do a main mission if it was in the area of my side mission. It made the story feel a lot more alive and worth while. Highly recommend going about it this way.

If you have friends, this is a great game to play. Spiders and lasers. Perfection. If you dont have friends then go touch some grass I guess...

Personal Description
I thought this game was just gonna be a reskin of the original and in the first 20 min of playing, I did notice some similarities but honestly, I didn't care. This game looks amazing. I was wowed by the graphics at every turn. I love all the new slimes and mechanics they added to this game. Even if it is just in early access it plays so well. I can tell Monomi Park put the work into this game and it payed off.

Ratings
Here is where I rate each aspect of Slime Rancher 2 based on my player experience. 0 = Low | 10 = high

Graphics
10/10 - Wow. This looks incredible. The graphics alone are amazing but paired with the music and you have a game that is good enough just to explore and look around.

Price
5/10 - The $30 USD price tag did seem a little daunting at first. I still have yet to figure out if its worth it so it gets an average rating.

Grinding
5/10 - Judging from the first slime rancher game, about half of it was easy and the other half was more grindy. I would assume this game is relatively the same.

Combat
2/10 - Tar and ferals. Not much to it. Just the right amount of combat for a game like this.

Exploration
10/10 - I spent the first 20 minutes in awe at the scenery.

Audio/Soundtrack
10/10 - Just beautiful when matched with the graphics and environment.

Story
7/10 - Continues the story from the original game and I already know the story is good but its a slime game so you're probably not gonna be too focused on the story.

Bugs (Early Access)
8/10 - Didn't experience any in the first 20 minutes but I wouldn't get your hopes up since this game just released at the time of writing this.

Multiplayer
None. Maybe someday.

Overall Gameplay
8/10 - I loved the original from the bottom of my heart and this game will not be an exception. I already love it and will be sinking lots of my days into it. I highly suggest you give it a shot if you liked the original. If you haven't played the original, I would still recommend it but you don't have to play that to play this. Happy ranching everyone!

I was originally going to write this review saying how this is not 2D Minecraft but as I was thinking about the differences, yeah, this is 2D Minecraft. You start with practically nothing, gather wood, go mining for resources to craft new things, fight bosses, get super op, beat the final boss. Yes, I'm well aware of the differences between the games like items, and game mechanics but honestly, mods can change all of that for both games. So if you're looking for 2D Minecraft with more of a focus on mystical stuff, here you go.

Ratings
Here is where I rate each aspect of Terraria based on my player experience. 0 = Low | 10 = high

Graphics
7/10 - Good for a pixel game. Not like ray-tracing is gonna do much here lol

Price
0/10 - Honestly, I think $10 USD is too cheap for a game like this.

Grinding
5/10 - Game progression is slow and fast at different points of the game so grinding is pretty necessary.

Combat
8/10 - For me, being a mage is the most fun so I really enjoyed the combat.

Exploration
3/10 - It's like playing Minecraft. A world is a world and sometimes you'll find some cool random generation.

Audio/Soundtrack
6/10 - No complaints. Nothing epic but the mood fits.

Story
0/10 - Does Terraria have a story? I'm not Mattpat so I'm not gonna go searching for a story that isn't right in front of me.

Bugs)
0/10 - Pretty damn polished.

Multiplayer
Exactly as you'd expect. Works very well and players can do just about anything in eachother's worlds.

Overall Gameplay
9/10 - I may have scored low on a bunch of the categories but I still rate this game high. You'll have a blast if this is your type of game.

After reading some of the other reviews, I thought I'd throw my opinion out there. (The following is only my experience with this game)

TL;DR
The campaign was alright. I enjoyed it though it was repetitive at times. The multiplayer, from my experience, is fun and I haven't personally run into many if any issues. I am not a hardcore Halo fan and if you're not either, I think you'll like this game. Unfortunately, how much you like this game depends on your personal player experience.

The graphics are great, especially for the fps I was getting though I'm not sure that will be the case for everyone. Based on what I'm seeing from other people, your experience is going to heavily depend on a few things:

  • Your Hardware
  • Your WIFI/Ethernet
  • Your Location

If most, if not all of those aren't at/near their best, you may struggle in multiplayer. This most likely won't apply to the campaign. Now, I could very well be wrong but this is just my take on what I've experience compared to other reviews. The only real way to find out is to give it a shot. The multiplayer is free so install and jump in.

This doesn't really need a review. Story is good. Online is fun obviously. Sometimes buggy but still worth it. Buy this game.
