The Gang Goes to Therapy: The Game.

As a kid, I would often take days to complete a level and upon figuring out the solution there was no end to my joy. Now that I've been gaming for so long it has always been difficult to replicate this feeling, maybe because I'm no longer a dumb kid, but also I've experienced a lot of puzzles already. Library of Runia however, was a slow tearing-down of my Hubris.

I did not play Lobotomy Corporation before this, but even despite that, the entire game (especially the creativity of the abnormalities) was enthralling to me. LoR always felt difficult, but never unfair (with exception of one particular Abnormality Fight). It was like I was a kid again, taking days or even weeks to figure out the solution to the complex fights, switching out pages, strategies, and floors. Losing never felt bad, and winning felt like I was on the moon. The randomness of the dice rolls and card draw prevent the game from being too exploitable, even with extremely powerful librarian passives on specific pages. The story, characters, and gameplay are all well designed and interesting and every decision was chosen with a specific purpose in mind. Figuring out some elements of the story before they were revealed to you was a blast as well. The balance of the game is unbelievable and perfect for those who need a humbling strategy game in their life.

Library of Runia is a must for anyone who enjoys strategy games, puzzles, or in-depth fictional world building. The game is rewardingly difficult and I hope for other people to experience it too!
