New engine, new review time!

First let me address concerns about the new UI. It's awkward at first. Not unusable, but it took a little time playing around with it to get used to it. Now that I'm adjusted, it's very streamlined for getting a hunter kitted out and ready to go. Yeah selecting a cosmetic is an extra step, but it remembers the last cosmetic skin used on each weapon so once you set your cosmetics up, it's a moot complaint. People are really just looking for anything to complain about. Use your friggin loadouts people... They're there for a reason and make kitting out new hunters so much quicker. You get so many of them that you can just set up consumables/tools on a few of them and then manually equip weapons afterward. On top of that, selecting weapon equips is WAY better now. Instead of having to scroll down a list where you can only see at most what, four weapons at a time, you have a grid select system that has either 9 or 12 options to choose from at a time.

Basically, if you're struggling with the new UI, it's a blatant skill issue dude.

Now for the meat and potatoes of this review.

HOLY SALAMI THIS NEW MAP IS GREAT

The vertical play is INSANE, and the sheer variety of engagement points is outstanding. I've had engagements at 150+ meters as well as point blank CQC. The sound design is also on point, with tons of ambient noises to learn and audio cues to take advantage of. Seriously, I cannot put into words just how stellar this map is compared to Lawson or DeSalle, and it's lightyears ahead of Stillwater. Really looking forward to the 3 old maps being renewed in the new engine, I think there's a LOT of potential for them to have a similar treatment.

At the time of review the old maps are NOT playable outside of the shooting range, because they're still running on the old engine and not yet working in the new engine (you can see this by loading into shooting range and all the old textures and issues are there)

New weapons, new variants, new ammo, new new new
Lordy lordy I think I'm in love with the new 1865 carbine. At time of review it's sitting at a whopping 145 damage (medium ammo btw, which means lower pen than similar damage long ammo long rifles like the Martini or Sparks) which might seem absurd, but the cycle rate is lower than the Winny, and the reload is atrocious due to the loading mechanism being in the butt of the rifle. It makes tactically topping up your weapon next to impossible during a fight because you have to remove the loading gate spring, add in the rounds, then refitting the loading gate spring in the butt of the gun. Takes a couple seconds for that alone compared to just slotting a cartridge into the side of a Winny variant.

The new sound and visual design is TOP
Seriously, it's so incredibly immersive that I'm constantly finding myself getting distracted looking at the scenery. Going into a cabin and seeing the light filter in through the dust and hearing a creek babbling on outside is just peak immersion. If this is the engine Crytek is gonna be using for the next Crysis game, I'm gonna freak.

All in all - Learn the new UI folks and ignore these review bombing pricks that whine when anything changes in their 6 year old live service game.

New update breathed so much life into Hunt it's not even funny. It feels like a brand new game in the best way.
