I would say that this is the best visual novel I have read so far. The characters are extremely well written, and despite the game taking place in a very fantastical situation, everything is very beleivable. I never found a moment in the game where I felt my immersion was broken. Everything just seems to flow so naturally. Each of the characters has their share of secrets, and the plot is extremely unpredicatable. 10/10 on the writing. Every playthrough so far has blown me away.

Without using a guide, it is extremely difficult to acheive any particular ending that you may be going for, because the consequences of your descisons are almost never obvious at the time. I have played it multiple times through now, and new things still continue to surprise me.

This VN really likes to reduce you down to a broken, miserable mess, only to lift you back up and then destroy you again. It is signifigantly worse if you experience all the endings, and then if you decide to play the DLC...... I pray for you.

What's most fascinating to me is that I am sure this game hits home alot harder to those who grew up in the Soviet Union and remember their experiences in a pioneer camp like the one in the novel. If this game managed to affect me so much, I can only imagine how powerful it might be for others...

I havn't really played this, as I opted to play Black Mesa instead, but I would assume the ladder climbing is also an issue.

I have noticed some serious improvments in the ladder climbing. It is obvious to me that this technology has been in development for quite a few years, which I find remarkable. I commend the developers over at Valve for doing their best. Perhaps by the time Half-Life 3 is released, humans will have completely transcended the need for ladders altogether.

The only real problem with this game is the ladder climbing.

Undertale is quite a remarkable little game.

It's kind of like... like when you go to an old relative's house for Thanksgiving and you're surrounded by so many people that you havn't seen since you were a little kid. And then everything goes wrong. The turkey falls on the floor and the dog eats it. Your sister catches her hair on fire on a nearby candle, and everyone is forced to get by on all the other food, save the turkey. Everything seems to go wrong, but in the end everyone is all smiles and much laughter is shared. You'll wish you could stay in that warm house by the fire with your friends and family forever, but alas the time comes to return home. Part of you worries that you may never get to see them again, but deep down you know that even if that's true, that your experiences and memories made that risk worth it.

It's not about the journey that you took to get to where you are now, it's about the people who were with you along the way.

That's Undertale.

I feel as though very few video games in existance today pack as much quality video game content per byte as Undertale does. With that I can say that Undertale is the best 149 Megabytes that I have ever downloaded.
