Elden Ring is a relentless open-world ARPG set in The Lands Between. You are journeying to contest the world's former heroes to become the latest Elden lord and mend the Golden Order.

FromSoftware has gone above and beyond to create the most complex character customisation in any Souls game, with the option to select one of ten starting styles. The vast amount of customising allows you to become whatever you want.

The game is aesthetically stunning, with excellent visuals and an artistic approach analogised to Dark Souls. The game has a night and day rotation, which is also pleasing. There are many environments to traverse through and interact with directly or indirectly.

The ominous soundtrack does not disappoint in a significant boss encounter; this is noticeable. It fits in perfectly with the backstory. The atmosphere is enormous, and there are enough songs to keep you going.

Elden's ring combat has improved immensely with the inclusion of various new mechanics - including item crafting, spirit summoning, jumping and more. The core of battle remains challenging and lethal. Many bosses are capable of one-hitting you. It's similar to other Dark Souls games, where you need to find the right balance, with many opportunities to improve.

Some quick points.

Although it isn't game-breaking, stuttering happens enough to hurt immersion.
- I don't understand why FromSoftware locks games at 60FPS. There will be tools to bypass this, but they need to break out the 60FPS lock.
- No DLSS, FideltyFX or ulra wide support.
- EasyAntiCheat & DX12 performance issues?
- KB+M is too sensitive.

+ Great parkour evolved from the original game. Mantling jumping feels natural with diverse animations. The grappling hook cheese from the first game does not work here and fits in very nicely. Lastly, I have yet to attain the glider, but I'm sure it will be fun.
+The map size and verticality introduce another level of complexity and exploration that the first game didn't have but does have a reasonable amount of activities to accomplish.
+ Amazing combat system, filled with gore, limb dismemberment, and weapon mods that make weapons fun to use, leaving you satisfied; however, it does feel clucky on some weapons,
+Co-op is tremendous fun, like the original. I have encountered some issues but am overall pleased with the outcome.


-The choice mechanic doesn't have a meaningful impact on the main story. There are few choice mechanics, and its consequences could have had more impact.
-Tedious and vapid main story. I was not expecting anything special it was all about the zombie-slaying and parkour.
-Game optimization/performance is not at its best. I am sure Techland will address it in future patches. As of right now, I am listing this as a negative.
-There are bugs and glitches again. Techland will address this in patches. However, no significant bugs occurred that made my PC crash.
-Not a big fan of night mode. It just doesn't give me that fear factor the first one gave when you encounter the volatile for the first time. However, it improves the variety of hordes and the increasing difficulty level the longer you survive.
