the game's really good -- i just hope now that the devs have had some success, they go in and replace the generated AI art in the game. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth every time I see it.

best $5 i've spent all year

In its current state, Amber Isle is buggy bordering on unplayable. UI glitches, characters floating about the map, game-breaking save bugs, characters haggling in nonsensical ways.. I really want to love this game because I waited so long for it, but for a game that's not even Early Access, its bugs are overwhelming. I can't recommend this game in its current state. Really hoping some patches come through and fix all these things because it has a lot of potential.

Edit: the recent hotfix has fixed a lot of my issues with the game. I've been able to make up my lost progress on a new save file with minimal issues. Don't know what the heck happened with the last one but it's chill. lmao

transphobes malding over a change that happened 2 years ago is just so incredibly pathetic. game is good, anyone who downvotes this game after playing it for 400+ hours just because of this is weak and they will not survive the winter.

It's a pretty fun game! Some notes:

- Buy this game while it's priced at $10. Any more would feel like too much for the amount of content that's out.

- A particularly determined player could probably finish this version of Early Access within 2 hours (the refund period). It took me 3 because I was distracted - I didn't plan to refund anyway, though.

- Some of the sound design in some levels needs to be mixed a bit better, i.e. the geysers in level 2. They're pretty loud, even compared to other sound effects.

- Currently, some of the upgrades feel unnecessary. There's no real reason to use the automatic sprinklers or hoovers. Their radius is small and they're slower than just manually doing everything. Plus it's more fun doing it yourself. :) The upgrades are paced so that you get all the currently available ones during the last level, which is nice for this version, but having maxed out upgrades for later updates might make them go a little too fast.

- I would love to see some locations with more variable settings. This game claims to be post-apocalyptic, but the only indication of that is the trash piles everywhere. I would love to see some actual city ruins, places overgrown with stuff, maybe even some worldbuilding about what happened. Right now, the dialogue in-game is mostly just puns. Which isn't a bad thing! But I want to know more about what happened in the world I'm being tasked with cleaning up.

So far, a solid - but short - experience.
