Oh boy, where should I even begin...let's say that straight away as tl;dr - 100/10, a masterpiece.

My experience with visual novels is not that big. I just started reading them pretty recently but already I can tell one thing about them - some of the Japanese writers are quite unique, to the point where now I can pinpoint if the story was written by one of them. And I'm not talking about setting or language. Muv-Luv saga shares something with my very first VN I've read, Higurashi - When They Cry. And here comes my advice - do not judge book (VN in this case) by its cover. First impression might be deceiving. VERY. Muv-Luv, like Higurashi, took me by surprise. But while in Higurashi it took me only few hours to figure it out (basically I had to finish first chapter), here, in Muv-Luv, I had to wait 70 hours to realise where I am and what the story is really about. If I had doubts in my original Muv-Luv review, here my judgement is clear as a blue sky - everything up to this point; Muv-Luv Alternative, was just a prologue. 3rd chapter, as I call Alternative is pretty much perfect in every aspect. Whenever I started reading in the morning, I ended up at midnight still reading. It was intense. It was unique. It was full of realistic details. And it was full of emotions.

As usual with visual novels, it's hard to say anything about the story without the spoilers, so I'm just going to say that - if at any point in Muv-Luv Extra, or Unlimited, you were hooked up by its story or liked any of the characters, you have to read this one. It's the best of all three stories and it's an amazing conclusion to all the ongoing plots.
Nothing to say about technical aspects - it's the same engine, same level of details even the same music is used. There's more animation tho, compared to previous two chapters.

But be warned - this is also the darkest and saddest of all three. I was careless, and I didn't read description when I bought the game just until yesterday, when my head was about to explode in events of episode 9. That's when I went back to store page to read it, and I will quote it here: "Playtime's over. Time for despair. Experience the definitive version of a masterpiece in the Muv-Luv trilogy's thrilling conclusion. Note: therapy not included."
For someone who didn't read the story, it might look like a fun advertisement to catch people's eyes. IT IS NOT. This is 100% truth. Even now, when I already finished the game, I'm still stuck in events of episode 9. Pictures in my head can't be erased, sadly and I'm still affected by it. You seriously might need a therapy after reading Alternative.
