This is a game that far surpasses any RTS that has been made since the Golden Age of RTS,

Perhaps not up there with Red Alert 2, but it is on equal tiers with Sins of a Solar Empire, and Empire at War.

Dawn of war, put simply, does everything that StarCraft II tries to do, but better, and is fun even when you get your [Redacted] kicked in by those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ T'au (Yeah, I know it's "Tau"), but I Don't want to attract GW's Lawyer's Attention)

It is a undeniable improvement on previous games in the series, even without the Rise and Fall DLC enabled, and is indeed worth the abnoxious price, just steer clear of the single Civ DLC, but if you must, they are all included in the digital deluxe, (But Australia, Poland, and Persia are the only ones that are good enough to stand on their own)

Rise and fall makes the game incredibly stimulating and rewarding, If I were you, I would suck it up and get it despite the negative reviews, and the "Civ is racist because so-and-so" articles in gaming magazines

Absolutely, positivly amazingly addicting,

sure, it has its bugs, but for all i care, the devs could be, well, "je fais le zouave*" for all i care

it has its moments too,

like, when you get to the top of a mountain on a planet for the first time in survival, you cant help but gasp and stare in awe even though its a video game

or when you have epic ship battles in creative,

or when you are working on something massive with a voice chat with your buddies

that said, disregarding what i said about the devs earlier, they did do a good job, and pour their heart and soul into it, it may be rough around the edges, and could do with some optimization to get the specs back down, but it is a beautiful game,

but within the community, there are a few things to know,

there are three kinds of people outside of your stanard gamer-types

people who incessantly complain about the game to the point where you think they dont know that the devs are actual people, who have lives outside of this game, and are NOT the slaves of these jerks (seriously, whenever a new feature is implemented, they complain about the features that were not added, before i learned about these guys, i thought I was selfish)

faction zombies, they take the game very seriously, they dedicate every waking moment that isnt taken up by vital functions (eating, sleeping, and working, etc) these guys are not exactly bad people though, they can be quite kind, if a little parinoid, and they build some of the best ships out there

and last but not least, your modding community, they have turned out great work, in fact, some of it has found its way into the base game, darth biomech's fighter cockpit, and uncleSTE's armor ramps (2x1x1) and have added some awesome features such as energy shields (like star trek), as well as great scenario maps you can play if you feel the need for a goal,

a great game, if you like getting shouted at by people who have IQ ratings in the -170's and -180's

great game, good mechanics and the ability to ram planetoids into people, but the devs are the living embodiement of every negative steryotype that can be attributed to rich, greedy people, im probably going to take advantage of that reduced price on their expansion (should be free, BTW because that expansion is what i THOUGHT i was paying for when i got this)

if you want a RTS that has balance?
this isnt for you (just use dox)

if you want a game with devs who are not completley ignorant of ethics and morality
this sure as ♥♥♥♥ aint for you

if you want a game that you pay a hell of a lot of money for and STILL has microtransactions?
this game IS for you
