At some point, you picked up this game whether it was in 2007 at release, in 2011 when it went F2P, or in 2022 for whatever reason, and at some point, you put it down.
All the while you'd miss the times you used to have in Dustbowl or 2Fort with some random people from all over the world, trading some virtual metal for virtual keys to get virtual hats for real money.
It was a glorious time to be able to play the game your favorite servers would always have a queue and you would hop between some random CTF server and some goofy juggernaut mode featuring a shirtless Australian man and some Mann Vs. Machine to fight waves of murderous robots.
You made friends all along the way, many of them are still on your friend list and some of them have been offline for years, you may have known them only by a steam name or maybe you got to know the person behind that name, and you made timeless memories all along the way.
You didn't know though, at the time, that it would probably be the last time, for at least a while, you'd put the game down.
One day it will be for a final time.
But you'll never forget it.
