Early Access Review
Valheim is one of the best survival/building type games in a long time. The building is nice with all the building durability stuff, weather affecting your buildings, mobs possibly breaking your buildings etc. You can never be really safe, not even in your base, theres always a chance of a troll event and they just breaking everything.

It also has a nicely balanced grinding aspect for building and crafting. If you want to build a big base you will need to grind materials for hours and that makes it feel alot more nice once your base or items are done.

The combat is working nicely with every weapon using a different amount of stamina and bows shooting "harder" with every upgrade. You can really feel like upgrading a bow for example changes something because the arrow is flying faster than with the old bow.

Its also nicely balanced (mostly) because to get new gear you need to kill the next boss to get items to harvest items for better gear, not like minecraft etc where you can be stacked with diamond gear in the first 2 hours. Here you really need to grind to get better gear.

Its also nice that even though copper gear is literally the first real gear you get you still need copper in the late game for building and crafting, nothing is truly useless in this game.

The problems I got are mostly with world generation, you can skip bonemass (the third boss) if you want to by just looking on the yops of the mountains to find silver ore poking out of the ground. If you manage to find enough its possible to fully skip bonemass this way.

Also some biomes further out from the centre of the map are kinda weird. Sometimes you can come across black forest biomes that are the size of a small apartment for some reason.

I still would suggest buying this game if you like grinding, building and exploring a gigantic world that never seems to end. Really liked this, 4.5/5
