A couple of years late here, but saw one of your reviews, appreciated, and my curiosity was piqued at this one. You seem to have really insightful reviews -- glad to have stumbled across them.
Here is the man who is depressed even though there isn't a particular reason for him to be depressed. He is simply the product of 21st century - which is realistic. I most certainly didn't empathize with the character either, but I recognized his case as something so common - it hit me.
