YOU IS DUMB, GAME IS WIN
I've played Baba Is You for over 10 hours now, and have only managed to complete the first world in its entirety. Even if it looks innocent on the surface, it's probably one of the most fiendish puzzle games I've had the chance to play in years.

This game absolutely has to be the brainchild of a programmer, and serves a dual function of being a live demonstration of just how much variance can exist with a few commands. In Baba Is You, you (usually the titular protagonist Baba, but often times Keke, amongst other things) must 'code' the game you're playing to define which rules determine the win condition, or make the win condition reachable. As the number of adjectives, nouns and conjunctions increase, so does the complexity of successfully 'coding' to reach a win condition.

The whole thing is presented in such a cute and straightforward way that the puzzles become increasingly frustrating. Having everything at your disposal outright to complete a puzzle sounds simple on paper, but the sheer variety of branching directions that a solution might require are the key to how deceptively difficult the game is. There's typically a THAT'S IT! moment that precedes finally getting the solution, though in later levels, this same thing happens, followed by a sad realisation that your 'solution' had several gaping logical flaws, and your oversights become apparent.

Baba Is You can be frustrating at points, but it's never unfair. It'll have you going back to the drawing board over and over again, and this is owed to the fact that the design of the puzzles is just exceptionally clever throughout.

8/10
