Early Access Review
Beyond some aesthetic similarities with a certain other aggressively litigious franchise Palworld is aggressively it's own thing.

As far as stuff it's actually close to, it shares more in common with Ark survival Evolved, Rimworld, and Conan exiles at it's core as a survival-crafting game. The creature taming of Ark, the assembly production of all three, and the tongue in cheek (or in the case of Rimworld / war-crimes simulator, on the nose) dark satire of conan & rimworld's "what is a life worth" questions.

Are you going to work your captured critters to literal death or make life comfortable for both you and your pals?

Palworld does everything it set out to do rather well. Do hope they can clean up the pal-placement mechanic (used to work fine but the current ongoing legal kerfuffle has made a temporary mess out of that) before going to live but otherwise Palworld is an entirely competent and fun game to mess about with & play with friends.
