It’s a very fun game which is unfortunately hampered by the current amount of bugs. Even with the large amount of bugs I still enjoyed my time with the game. Most of the other reviews, both positive and negative, are pretty accurate about what to expect from this game. Honestly I’m just gonna focus on stuff that jumped out at me. If I don’t talk about something just read another review.

STORY
Simple concept which is presented and built on very well. Quite a few “ah-ha” moments that explain a lot and keep a solid level of intrigue into the greater plot of the story.

CHARACTERS
I was surprised by the quality of your companions. Of course some are better than others but they all feel unique with consistent writing. Props to the voice actors who all did a great job. I just wish there was more. I wasn’t expecting all dialogue to be voiced but there's a noticeable drop off as the game goes on.
There’s a bit of overlap with companion classes and how they’re “meant” to be built. Obviously you can customize them, but that's only the case for after you recruit them. Meaning if you recruit a character and they’re level 10, even if you retrain them, those 10 levels can’t be changed.

CRUSADE MODE
Probably the worst thing in this game except for a specific questline involving puzzles. Honestly it’s not THAT bad. The worst part was how time consuming it was, not the difficulty. Thankfully some changes were made in recent patches that fixed some big issues, but doesn’t change why it's not enjoyable.

CUSTOMIZATION
I’m not going to get into it too much. There’s a lot. Like a lot. Mythic paths add another layer which can make certain builds become insane.
Eldritch Scion Magus with the Azata mythic path is pretty good.

DIFFICULTY
Played on Core difficulty. I didn’t min-max. In my core party almost everyone had one or two bum feats. Obviously I had to restart some fights, but nothing was impossible. Just make sure to buff before fights and to use everything available to you. Don’t expect to have 6 wizards or archers in a party and to breeze through every fight without some serious build planning.

BUGS
Ranges from game breaking to annoying. Owlcat has been doing a good job of patching the major bugs, most if not all of the ones I encountered have been patched already. Although I’m certain some minor ones, or major ones I didn’t encounter are still present.
Act 4 was especially heavy with bugs, which is a shame because it’s probably the best part of the game. The two worst bugs which were CONSTANT in this section have been apparently patched, but obviously there’s more still there.
Some of the bugs are just really bizarre. There are multiple feats from crusade mode which have a “<null>” description. Some other effects or descriptions have random placeholder “keys” and such. Some people might think it’s them being lazy, but I find that hard to believe unless these have been present from the beta versions. Otherwise something had to have happened when they pushed the release version which just ♥♥♥♥♥♥ something up.

CONCLUSION
This might sound more like a negative review, but everything else is very solid and overall it’s a great game. In the current state I’d only recommend it if you can overlook a serious amount of bugs. If not just wait a few months or until the DLC is released. I think Owlcat was very ambitious with what they wanted to achieve, and just needed a little bit more time to iron out some issues. I’m looking forward to playing this again in a few years when the ‘Final Cut/Enhanced Edition’ comes out, with all the DLC and whatever they had to cut from this version.
