Depression Quest is a beautiful and wise piece of interactive fiction which main theme is the exploration of clinical depression. We play a 20 years old man who have got a depression, though he isn't self-conscious about it in the start of the journey were we, the player, join him in the opening of the game. This would probably have stroked me as more silly if I had not myself in recent times had a weak depression. An acquaintance of mine pointed out that I was not okay, she might have questioned whether I was depressed - I can't recall, I thought she was silly. Most of all just to spite her I tried to take an online test for gauging depression, it indicated I had a weak depression. I found another it stated I had a weak or moderate depression. Another still that I had a weak depression ... She'd obviously hacked the internet! A while later on I went to see my doctor and their test said I had a weak depression too.

Anyhow. The psychology portrayed in this "game" is dominated, to put it in a black and white framework, by natural science and social science, with all their strengths and weaknesses. I.e. it's, among things, the personal clueless and naive ♥♥♥♥♥ of the pharmaceutical industry (hyperbole)--O why hello Capitalism dear! My sweet ever-mutating friend, how come you're still only level 9?! Have you no balls? And do stop sulking already about the Chinese outwitting your parents for a while ...--Albeit there's of course also loads of noble and lovely aspects to the discourse that dominates western psychology. It's just gonna have a tough and problematic time when for instance transhumanism hits humanity hard in the near future. Though naturally it won't stand alone, thus the sparkling multifaceted stars that is humanity shines brighter than ever before! But it could get very problematic indeed. "It's the best of times and it is the worst of times." ...

I've played through one path in the game and I've been afking some, it took around 1.8 hour.

Absolutely gorgeous horror exploration game that explores an insane asylum in 1930s and how the mentally ill where treated or mistreated.

On a side note I thought electroshock therapy had been left behind in the West due to its possibly memory loss side effect, not to mention its barbaric nature in and of itself. But in my country Denmark it is still practiced even if it is called Electroconvulsive therapy. Sure just break my yolo meter.

Silly, anachronistic and nonsensical setting that breaks verisimilitude on so many levels it is not even funny (Hyperbole). Meh narrative structure and characters. The soundscape is good even brilliant in some regards but this exploration game is just forgettable as a whole.

Edit: I thought I'd love this game, but I was not its target audience - the jokes on me. I still find the game silly obviously.

The Lion's Song is a beautiful Point & Click Visual Novel with no real Puzzles.

The game mainly takes place in Austria in the city of Vienna some time before the First World War, overall the game goes for a realistic vibe with creative artistic touches--and in so doing break with the stale humdrum of the average adventure game, were the genre has been stuck since its silly inception--albeit, it for instance portrays Freud as being more inane than he was.

We mainly follow a female violinist, a male portrait painter, a female University mathematician and humans related to these three as well as a journalist. We get to choose the main casts life choices, be they small or more significant as we're taken through a beautifully structured narrative, which is rather warm and profound in its simplicity and humane relevance.
