It's very promising but also very, very rough at the moment, to the point where I currently cannot recommend it to most people until the devs put more work in. Dogwater performance, super sluggish controls, and incredibly simplistic AI that will spawn directly behind you.

My favorite game of all time. Infinite replayability with the modding community. Amazing depth. Also I love Archviles, I love them so much

I cannot recommend this game in its current state.

As of 1.0, all suspects, both delinquents in a robbery gone bad and fanatical terrorists alike, are now suicidally aggressive to the point where less-lethals are the only viable ways to get them to surrender, and even then they're less effective than in early access. Not only is this behavior unrealistic and antithetical to the scoring system incentivizing arresting suspects over killing them, but it also removes nearly all tension and unpredictability when encountering a suspect, which (IMO) is one of the main draws of a SWAT game and why they're fun. They don't flee, they barely ever hesitate, and they're coded to have a reaction time of 100ms, faster than the ~250ms average seen in humans under ideal conditions. All Void needs to do in order to remedy this is change some values in the AI config files, but given the near total radio silence from them regarding the issue I'm not sure it'll happen.

That's not the only AI problem: a considerable amount of art assets added in 1.0, as well as ALL of the subtitles, were made by AI, and it doesn't seem much quality control went into them; in fact, it seems that the AI-generated subtitles were not checked for typos at all.

Play SWAT 4 instead, it's 10 bucks on GOG.

It was fun... half a decade ago.

Reinstalled for the first time in ~2 years. As soon as I logged in I was immediately thrown into the first story mission from the witch queen expansion, with zero plot context whatsoever. All the enemies are brain-dead bullet sponges, the user interface is confusing beyond belief, and I had no idea what I was supposed to do.

Maybe I would've enjoyed this game if I'd played since the very beginning, before Bungie deleted the campaign.
