In terms of a remake, this game is fantastic. The artistry feels very true to the original; sound-wise, it has all the hallmarks of creepy ambience/atmosphere and the OST is one of my personal favourites. Going into it, I was a bit worried about the voice acting and casting as the original was just so unique that the characters would be replaced with those Hollywood-like VAs. However, this is not the case. The characters, for all intents and purposes, feel like "normal" people (if you can call them normal, every single one of them is mentally ill--and so am I).

All of this said, one thing I find insanely frustrating about the game is the actual combat. This could be an issue of my own controller not responding as well to button clicks or a delay. When you dodge, it certainly does not feel like it as 95% of the time I get clapped or thrown to the ground in a tussle with the monsters. For as many people who used to complain about the tank controls of the game on the PS2... I would much prefer those! Related to this, button remapping is a pain in the ass. I cannot tell you how many times I have hit the "triangle" button for the map (as it was this way in the original) without a second thought and use a HEALTH DRINK FOR THE 90TH TIME THAT I DID NOT NEED TO. It has been such a problem that I actively have to repeat a mantra of "don't hit triangle" whenever I get a health drink. Even then, I STILL end up hitting triangle out of habit when I should be hitting the up button on the D-pad.

Or maybe it's a skill issue, that is also a possibility... and I should start playing with a keyboard.

All-in-all, I am very happy with the way this game turned out and that the user reviews are overwhelmingly positive. Now do a remake of Silent Hill 1, 3, and 4! :)

7 hours in, and I really love this game so far though I'm not someone who's really hard to please.

The only thing that is quite bothersome to me is some of the game mechanics can be quite fussy. It's so bizarre to me that there's no option to jump in this game.

Overall, I'd recommend this game. It's a good visual novel especially for those that are new to the genre and want somewhere to start. Short, nice graphics/aesthetic, and the music is really nice too! The only downside for me is that it was quite short and the story left me with more questions than answers. Though, I'm sure that's what the creator was going for in the first place. So, that's just me being nitpicky. Anyways, hope to see more games like this in the future!

This game makes me want to take a shower. Several showers. Then proceed to coat myself in a thick layer of hand sanitiser, followed by a healthy serving of bleach for the soul. If COVID, syphilis, typhoid, ebola, SARS, flesh-eating bacteria, and the stomach flu converged and had a child, it would be this game.
