This is how you know Witcher 3 is THE BEST GAME EVER.

My enlightening moment was in the Blood and Wine DLC.

While doing a quest I saw 2 women, crushing grapes in a big container with their bare feets, in order to create wine. And they were having a random chat about life and their husband. So I stopped and listened to their whole conversation, it was unrelated to anything in the game, just a daily chit chat between 2 coworkers.

Then when they were done chatting, they remained working for a while then they got out of the container and one of them started walking. I decided to follow her. She walked for 1 minute barefooted to a lake, put her feet in the water, then put on her shoes that were near the lake. then walk home. Sit on a table, eat her food and go to bed. I meditated through the night, then in the morning, she waked up, put her shoe and walk back to work.

The fact that this is amazing is because:

NPCs are not there just for you. They have their life, work and have no effects over you.
They have fully voiced conversations that are random and makes the world alive
someone actually bothered to code all this, and voice it, and 1 in a million people will notice it.
IT'S A DLC!!!!!!!!! not a main game
Things like that makes you appreciate the hard work of the developpers.

Another quick example, is the lady that is crying because her ring fell in the water. She doesn't interact with you, doesn't even give you a quest or anything. But if you decide to follow the river down, you'll eventually find her ring and if you bring it back she will thank you. Later you will find that it was an engagement ring and she is now married (not very happily tho).

This also blew my mind, as it's not even a quest.

One of the best games ever released. Thank you CD Projekt RED.
