Arma 3 is easily the best game I've picked up in the past 4 years. I've jumped, hopped, skipped, and tumbled across many games yet none of them have fit my fancy. I love having to communicate with others to get things done, I love the sound of massive guns being fired across mountain ranges, the plings of high caliber weaponry impacting off nearby vehicles as my unit is ambushed in a valley. There's nothing greater than seeing a grenade bounce off the nearby wall and shouting "GRENADE!" just to see half your squad getting wiped out because of the poor grouping which you keep lecturing them on.

Even if you enjoy simply running and gunning, you can enjoy this game. I play with a very casual unit and the most cooperation we have is setting up some lines on a map and saying "Ok, we're going here. None of you know WHAT we're doing, BUT... we're gonna shoot some dudes!"

Yes, this game has its flaws, such as a less-than-ideal singleplayer experience, or its subpar un-modded experience. But if you're buying this game for its singleplayer experience, or to get "144 fps at 4k resolution" in a game that has graphics that look like it was made in 2005, you're buying the wrong game. Yes, modding the game will worsen your FPS performance, yes playing the game without mods isn't as fun, but if you're willing to make these compromises I can guarantee you can find something fun about this game.

Join a unit, whether it be a milsim or a casual group, and your experience will be many MANY times better. Don't buy the game to play it by yourself, buy the game to experience joy in a community of like-minded individuals. (P.S. Yes, I think the $30 usd price is worth it. BUT if you're like me and enjoy saving as much money as possible, the game often goes on sale for $7.49 usd)
