Before I get into what I liked, I want to stress to everyone that this is not Dead Space. You are not going to get that from playing this. There are elements that are reminiscent of Dead Space, but the Callisto Protocol is 100% its own thing.

I personally loved the game play, but could tell that it isn't for everyone. It starts out extremely melee heavy with guns, to using the two in tandem towards the end. Almost every enemy encounter is in your face, and extremely brutal. The combat gets really interesting when you have to juggle between multiple enemies, . Every swing with the melee baton is super bloody, and your character is covered in blood after finishing off an enemy. I think most people are going to be turned off by the dodge mechanic; basically you automatically dodges while holding down left or right. Its definitely basic, but I don't think that holds the game back. It doesn't make you invincible, you still have to change up your movement to evade an enemy, and it puts more focus on waiting for the enemy to expose themself. And the physics glove- don't get me started on how fun that is. It's probably one of the most fun parts about the combat. After you get it, every encounter is set up with either spikes or blades, letting you pick up an enemy and throw them in, shooting a wave of blood out. Everyone on the fence about getting the game should look up game play before to see if it fits their style.

Since this is a horror game, atmosphere is pretty important. I thought they did an amazing job. First off the environment looks stunning. The designs of the prison and Jupiter's surface are exceptional. Then there's the actual horror element. There are jumpscares, but it isn't obnoxious screaming in your ears. None of them made me jump out of my seat or scream or anything, but I definitely felt on edge going through dark corridors. There were some points where I felt like there should have been an enemy and there just wasn't. Like I'm sure the idea was that you think there will be a jumpscare but there actually isn't, but it wasn't all that effective. Thankfully that is very few and far between, you'll run into a lot of enemies coming out of vents, dead enemies not actually being dead, and those damn facehugger thingies in the lockers.

I'm also really happy to say that this game has stellar voice acting (This shouldn't have to be said but you know most games don't). I really liked Jacob, the main character, he has a nice balance of dialouge where he's definitley talking throughout but not to an annoying degree. I also really liked the character of Dani (she's played by Karen ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ who's Kimiko in the Boys AAAAHHH).

This game does NOT deserve the score it's at right now. You can tell there was a lot of work put into this game, and shows with how well it turned out. Everyone's complaining that the game was stuttering on launch, but it took me less that 5 minutes of messing with the setting to get the game to run flawless. Also the devs put out a patch for the stuttering in less than one day, which is really nice to see.

Anyways I'm super stoked to play the dlc when it comes out, and maybe even a sequel, if there is one. To everyone who worked on this, you did a great job :D thank you for making this!!

Appearance
The Boiled One is a tall, lanky, humanoid entity with raw, crimson skin. He has a misshapen head with a melted appearance, a gaping mouth with many visible teeth, and large, human-like eyes. Multiple wiry, hair-like appendages jut out from his head in straight lines. He appears to wear a black cloak that covers the rest of his body, which has similar spiky appendages to those on his head. Several shots in the video also reveal that he has at least one arm with multiple joints and a giant, pulsating orifice on his chest.

He can change his height depending on his desires, such as being seen or fitting in certain areas. Invisible to most naked eyes, he is visible only to cameras and those whom he wants to see him.
