its a russian knockoff riff on half life literally level for level but it feels more like trepang2 either because they did it on purpose or because russians have irreparable brain damage

Early Access Review
this game has all of the good stuff that low tier boomer shooters have been chasing for years, and it actually has enough game in it to be worth the price. seriously unheard of.

every single run i have had in the past 48 hours has ended due to a bug. either disconnection from my own server, game crashes, or my health becoming 0 for no reason during a lull in combat. the main issue seems to be crap stability for one reason or another. one of my runs even thought i was dead the whole time so i couldnt open boxes but it would take my entire stack of cash for the box and the run ended when my friend died even though i was alive.

new survivors are fine anybody complaining about them being unfinished are just parroting other reviews cuz they think it gives them credibility. the new items are also fine. there are no magic build bricking items unless you buy a blue which is the whole point of lunar items to begin with.

as much as this dlc ♥♥♥♥♥♥ the game(including base game) the reasons are nothing to do with what most people have been saying. its ♥♥♥♥ because the main game got a ton of new bugs and stability issues not because new survivors are janky and unfinished (whatever that means, they are the same as all the others). multiplayer browser is also bricked btw.

that said this is a modern dev. the game starts when you click play so there will be no bugfix coming to save you from these problems. buy it or not the game will stay broken.

so you see a game that lets you make any ship you can think of from russian ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to a super yamato and think "thats awesome". well you are right, it is awesome, but that is literally the only awesome thing about this game. the dynamic campaign might be literally the worst made iteration of the idea of all time so its important to know what you are getting into.

-you do not control your country, you control only the navy, so you dont get to declare war/invade countries/setup trade. your all powerful ruler does it on his own volition. basically your only job is not to get fired from from your position.
-you cannot control when or where your fleets will fight. lets say you have a really good fleet designed to take advantage of all the ships in it and you send them to guard the english channel because you are at war. if the enemy comes by(even directly on top of you) a battle will not start, nor can you choose to start it. what *might* happen is a battle *might* be randomly generated nearby using completely random ships from random locations including ports and the fleet which you will typically be forced to fight. this means the fleet you made is broken up and half the ships are dead because the game decided it wanted to send all of your crusiers against a BB doomstack.
-these random battles are the whole game, and are generated regardless of having a fleet out. lets say all of your ships are in port in china. one day for no reason at all, 2 battles which you cannot avoid are generated out in the middle of the philippine sea using random ships from random ports against an enemy with no fleet in the area(these fights are almost never fair). your ships will now teleport thousands of miles instantly to fight this battle for no reason.
-if you are losing the war by a very close margin of victory points you may think "i need to just blow up a couple ships and hold the lead ez". except you cant do that because you cant start battles. you have to hope that the game gives you 1. a battle 2. a winnable battle 3. a winnable battle against ships that are slower than you. 4. a winnable battle against ships that are slower than you and are worth enough VPs to put you in the lead.
-you can get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ by things like a revolution in your country which you cant control, one day the government may be overthrown and you can have a way worse gdp and navy budget as a result, sometimes at really bad times.
-essentially the entire campaign is dicerolling over and over and over again hoping that you get a lucky setup where a whole fleet fights another whole fleet in a fun battle.

do not buy this game for the campaign, it really is nothing like the functional games you are used to playing. also consult other peoples reviews talking about the jank inside the actual fights because i dont feel like talking about how you cant put your ships into formation. all it would take to fix this game is for the devs to actually want to make a normal fun game, there arent any limitations to overcome, they just chose to make the stupidest system ever devised presumably because they are slavic.

a good thing to know about the game is that the devs are the type of people to make multiplayer cost 15 dollars as a dlc and inside of it, only include 1v1 custom battles.

you may wonder how its possible to make something more pay to win, non-functional, scummy and devoid of anything resembling fun than war thunder but gaijin manages to make lightning strike twice. if you are somehow able to take one look at the 2nd-to-none worst ui in gaming with less readability than mobile games, and continue to press the play button. you will be met with the most uninteresting cluster♥♥♥♥ of tanks and planes raping the handful of players and their army of bots.

lets also not forget the initial steam launch of this game, which was met with overwhelmingly negative reviews, was taken down because you couldnt get this free game on steam without also paying for a dlc(which by its nature is non refundable). Now the game has been re-listed under a different name specifically so that negative reviews and associated community news/discussions are lost to time and not carried over onto this page.

The only PS"X" game ive seen that captures the spirit of games from the era in any meaningful way beyond cheap graphical filters. this is one of the rare spiritual successors that stand out from a crowd of imitators.

This game has a great number of mechanics and really fun ways to combine them. this is ultimately the most important reason the game is good. a lot of these types of games just see an old game with a butt slam ability and put one in so that you can break boxes directly under you, 20 years later we expect a little innovation. here we get that, and the butt slam ability now contributes to at least 4 separate methods of traversal, similarly, most of the other abilities feed into one another in some way. aside from that i want to jerk off the animations which are some of the nicest ive seen in years especially combined with the smooth movement and every action just feels incredibly good. there even parts where you just want to walk back and do a segment again because it felt so right. also this demo is substantial, more than the length of most of these quick profit indie games end up with at v1.00. you look around and think "wait, do i get to do all of that?"
the only gripe i had was the camera, it makes absolutely no attempt to follow your movements meaning if you dont set the camera up right before a segment, youll fumble with it while trying to press the other buttons you need to be using at the same time.

The "checkpoints" are not too unforgiving you just want a baby game and have adhd, the runbacks are 2 minutes at most. seriously this is exactly the level of difficulty a platformer should be.
