I like the play style of this guys games more than, the 50.00 top of the line games. His overall style and mastery of game technique is the very best. A lost art. A Rembrandt of game dev's.

Hey dude!
Loved your tutorials on Unet multiplayer. They were really helpful in debugging some of my issues. I have a game that I'm working on and you really helped me get started. Thanks man!

I do have a question, though. I've had a lot of trouble with disconnection (believe I keep going over the 'bandwidth' limit) has ANYONE found a way around this? Or perhaps how to increase the limit? I'm going out of my mind because I feel stuck between Unet, Photon or learning to code all my multiplayer stuff from scratch... AAAGGGHHH!!! lol

FYI - my game involves players fighting against massive waves of robots. So, a lot of position, rotation info - but I've been able to work around a bit by allowing the clients to move the bots between server updates (there is a bit of rubber banding, but at the moment it's survivable, lol). The worst seems to be the automatic weapons - they really cane the network data.

GTGD Hello :) so i am working with Unet all does work, but the only Problem is the Server List, so Match maker, how much does it cost in the average ? 1 GB / 0.49 $ and i don`t own a Professinal version, how can i pass it ?

its not a project i made, i just learned i can launch unity games multiple times and connect to the same server, that was drift streets japan

Whenever you do multiplayer stuff, you launch the game multiple times while keeping windows open, this has taught me how to do this.

I'm working towards a not later than March release. S3 will most likely be in early access with seven of the eight main chapters completed.

I like that you are increasing the pace. I know it might be too fast for some, but I enjoy when the lessons are 8-12 mins.

Excellent, as all of your training videos.


I have been following your ALLWAYS well thought-out tutorials for some time now and have to say you are by far the best. And I watched a LOT of tutorials on this topic(especially C#) from people all over the internet

Finally the urge to say what has been on my mind for month now has become so displaceable that I feel obliged to write this post.
You changed my life for the better mate. Thank you so much man. That said without exaggeration.

Allways keep in mind, especially on the hard days, that the impact your work has on the individual lifes for whom you are doing this for, could be far outside your imagination.(dont get me wrong here ;)

@5pecto, I'll have a video soon showing my current progress with the S3 project. Currently I have a reasonably robust gun system with a list inventory. The gun system works for assault rifles, pistols, shotguns etc. It has a dynamic cross hair (bullet spray increases with player speed). Bullets can apply force to any rigidbody gameobjects. Guns can be thrown and picked up and are selected from a simple list inventory. There's quite a lot going on and I'll explain a little bit of that in the upcoming video. I've also made considerable use of C# events to keep the system quite modular and it also runs quite efficiently as well.

How in-depth will the tutorial for S3 FPS go? Switching weapons, grenades etc, or the same as S1 but for Unity 5?

Are you gonna update your older tutorails so people who use them can still use them in unity 5 ( if unity 5 breaks them). i havn't even downloaded unity 5 yet because i'm using your season 1 right now still (taking a break while i make my own player model (static) to run around with instead of the capsule..

@narcis87 S3 will probably be a classic fps. I'm intending to take my current set of UNET tutorials towards multiplayer fps co-op. S3 might also be that or just classic DM.

@GTGD, I liked how it was better some use a certain gun depending on your situation. This forces the player to get really good with every gun to have a better chance at winning.

Example Scenario: You find an enemy with low HP. In this scenario it is best to use the Railgun as it has high damage and infinite range.

Another Example Scenario: You know someone is following you but your HP is too low too fight them back. In this scenario you would get rid of the enemies route to you by using the Grenade Launcher.

I also liked how you have 1 weak gun when you join a server or have just been killed and you have to go and pickup guns to use them. The game was fun for me because you had to be skilled to win. This gives the player a goal of becoming a better player. I liked how hardcore the game was. For example, no health regeneration. You'd have to pickup medkits to get your HP back.

Welcome to the group everyone!

@OldDustyDan and Tsallallaa, an inventory system is something I could show how to implement in a later chapter. I could do a guild commander type inventory or a drag and drop type.

@izdane, I only have windows and macbooks suitable for game development are over my budget so no I can't make a mac version sorry. The launcher wouldn't work on mac but the actual videos would most likely be applicable to mac users as well.

@Boowman, no I have Bolt but it is still very much under development. I didn't use Photon for the same reason years back because it was still new then and the risk of it being way different years later was too high (and this did prove to be true). I think Bolt is in the same boat at the moment and also there isn't a free version as far as I know for learners. Photon is really mature now and it is the leading technology for non authoritative games made with Unity so I'm going with it.

Is there any chance of you getting into Bolt instead of Photon? Or at least try to do some Bolt tutorials as well if you know how to use it.
