ABOUT Movie and Book - IT

“We all float down here!”

T is the 22nd book published by Stephen King. It was his 18th novel, and the 13th novel written under his own name. The book was released by Viking on September 15, 1986.
IT follows the story of seven children from Derry, Maine who are stalked and terrorized by a supernatural entity they know as "It." The creature has the ability to disguise itself to stalk its prey, and uses their greatest fears against them. It often appears in the form of an evil-looking clown, and prefers to prey on young children.

The novel alternates between two time periods, interweaving the story of the children and the adults that they will eventually grow into. Common King themes are woven throughout the novel, including the notion of the power of memory, traumas experienced in childhood and their effect in later life, a small town with dark secrets, and triumphing over evil through trust and sacrifice.

King began writing the novel in 1981, having first conceived of the tale in 1978. Originally, King envisioned the It character as a troll living in the sewer system, drawing on the idea of the troll under the bridge from the "Three Billy Goats Gruff" children's story.

IT won the British Fantasy Award in 1987, and earned nominations for both the Locus Award and the World Fantasy Award. It was the best selling book in the United States in 1986. Since the novel's publication, it has been adapted for the screen several times. In 1990, Tommy Lee Wallace produced a two-part miniseries starring Tim Curry as It. In 2017, Andy Muschietti directed Chapter One, with a sequel, Chapter Two due to be released in 2019.
