So if you've been following the not-so-recent news about Flipnote Studio 3D, you've probably heard next to nothing. Do not worry, this isn't your fault.

Flipnote Studio 3D was 'released' outside of Japan to Club Nintendo owners. If you're a European that has tried to join Club Nintendo, you've learned the hard way that it is for the United States of America only. This leaves a large potential userbase left in the dark. There is no European release information available.

However, for those that did receive the download codes, things weren't as great as people had hoped. There online component "Flipnote Gallery: World" was not present, leaving people with no community to share their creations. Creating a masterpiece nobody gets to see is not very appealing to a majority of users, as the sense of community was a big part Flipnote Hatena.

So in short; North American downloaders felt dissapointed, Europeans feel left out, and things look bleak for the nostalgic days of spamming stars to your favourite author's fantastic new flipnote.

Nintendo has stated that since the Club Nintendo service is going down, people registered to the service will be handed out a key to use Flipnote Studio 3D. You can read more by checking out the following:

It appears that yet again, Nintendo has delayed the release of «Flipnote Studio 3d». After being told that we would se the application in early august, the western world has to wait for an indefinite time. The current release schedule is TBA (To be announced).

The program has been released in Japan on 24th July 2013, we can only hope the western release is still in development.

So as you all probably know this is an extremely slow and dying Steam group. The problem is and has been that Flipnote Studio is irrelevant because of the switch over to the Nintendo 3DS.

It was a long time ago that «Flipnote Memo» was announced for the 3DS, but it kept being delayed along with a lot of people's hopes and dreams. However, the upcoming 3DS application is not dead. The application now goes under the name «Flipnote Studio 3D» and is set to release for free in summer 2013. It will have six available colours as opposed to the two from the DSi application, and you will be able to create stereoscopic 3D animations. I assume this will just be two or three different layers/levels, which I would personally love to have.

Anyways, I hope that if they finally do release the long awaited animation tool that it will be an improvement and that it can revive this group. Having the ability to post and share your animations here should be an option.
