Hey all,

Just wanted to give a quick update. Some people have been asking me if the server is down - no. For some reason though, it doesn't always show in the master browser. I'm not sure why. I usually connect through 'favorites' if it doesn't show up in the master browser.

Player base has gone down a bit with the release of contagion. I've been super busy with work so haven't had as much of a chance to jump on and play either.

I've been thinking about setting up a Contagion server, but would like to see some feedback to see if people are interested in that. Any ideas? Any particular game-modes you'd like to see?

Last thing - server support. I've never really asked for financial help for the server and I'd like to keep it that way. Its mostly a labor of love for the game. A few people have expressed interest in supporting it, which is great, but haven't had the cash to do so. So, I looked into some ways that people can help show support a little easier.

1 - I setup a bitcoin account on a pooling site, so if you've ever mined bitcoins before, you can put in my address and mine for the server. Its a free way of supporting the server if you're running your computer anyway. Message me for more info. If you're familiar with mining bitcoin, the pool is 'Slush's Pool' at mining.bitcoin.cz and the worker login is hooraah.worker3 / password boywonder. An easy way to get setup is to use guiminer. If you send me a message I can help out further.

2 - if you ever tried mining before and have a small amount of btc left over, thats fine too. Message me and I will send you the address.

Obviously, I don't want anyone to feel obligated to donate, and I am grateful for those that do. I'm just glad that people enjoy the server.

I'd like to welcome two new trial admins - Tabajara 7.7 as well as Nemesis. They are both long time members of the ZPS community and we're glad to have them on board keeping the server...sane.

The server was moved and load tested over the weekend - a few growing pains at first as I realized that some background processes were hogging the CPU, but those are fixed now and things are back on track. This weekend was busy and for the most part everything worked smoothly.

I've been told that there are a few clowns out there using the name BoyWonder and going into other high ranked servers and causing trouble. I guess this means we're popular? I don't know. If you're ever concerned its me, just ping me on steam, but its probably not.

Last topic - we're almost 1 year old! This server went live October 31st, Halloween night, one year ago. Since then this project has been more successful than I originally planned, and I'm loving it. Any ideas for our one year anniversary? I'd like to do something special.

One more thing - I'd like to personally thank all of the people that have donated this month. Those acts of appreciation mean so much, and I'm happy you all are enjoying the server.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I added zpo_core_complex_v3 as a map in the rotation. This map has been created by Tabajara 7.7, a long time player of ZPS. Thanks!

Also, wanted to go over some of the rules on the ZPS server, just to clarify:

1 - Don't camp on objective maps. You won't win and you will just piss off the survivors trying to win. There are some minor exceptions (where you have to wait for a certain amount of time) but mostly, do the objectives.

2 - Respect each other. I don't mind a bit of trash talk, or taunting, or even anger. Its a game and its meant to be fun. I'm not your mother. That said, CONSTANT derogatory comments against someone are not appreciated. If I see comments such as "Learn to aim noob u suck" over and over again, my opinion of you is not going to be very high.

3 - Camping is a legitimate playstyle on ZPS maps.

4 - Do not quit and rejoin if you are assigned zombie. Bad things will happen. Bad things.

5 - Jessica is the head admin.

So you may have heard that I've decided to pool resources and communities with Zombiegaming [ZG]. What this means is that I will be promoting my server in their groups and sites, and I will be promoting their servers in mine. Additionally, I will be bringing their admins onboard on my server.

If you'd like to keep up with whats been going on and what is to come either on my server or ZGs, I encourage you to hit up their website and their forums. I will try to be active on their forums to answer questions or address issues that come up. As always though, you can reach me through this steam page or my direct steam.

ZPS is a little rocky right now with the Valve update breaking things and I'd like all the help I can get keeping the server running properly, the community interested in the game, and the playerbase growing.

Additionally, I'm opening my DayZ server for ZG to use as well. Currently, the server is not as populated as I'd like, but I hope for that to change.

Hello all,

Bunch of updates:

1 - Votekick, votemute, and Pills cure have been added to the ZPS server.
2 - ZPS server moved to a new machine. Went from a Dual core Pentium D (ancient) to a Core 2 Duo E6300! Pings and congestion are down. Hooray!
3 - Have noticed a bit more crashing after the above two changes. Hard to say whats causing it. Possibly the new plugins, possibly the new server. Not sure. Looking into it.

4 - DayZ server is back up and running! I'm running a standard Chernarus server with 70 vehicles. I started testing a bit last night. Everything seems to be working but I haven't load tested it yet. If you play DayZ, I'd be very appreciative if you hop into the server and give it a test. The IP address is the same as ZPS, only the port is different. Message me for more details.

5 - I've been hearing about a lot of hacking on ZPS lately. Since ZPS is now free to play (more or less), it is very easy to start a new steam account, which will bypass any bans I put in place. If you find a hacker in the server, please, message me with their in-game name AND THE TIME (EST) they were hacking. This allows me to find them in the log and ban their IP. Without the time they were in-game, it takes me too long to sift through the logs to find the offending name.
