ABOUT 3te Gránátos Zászlóalj

Nr. 1 Kaiser's Own Regiment

Nr.1 "Kaiser's Own" 3te. Gránátos Zászlóalj
Summary

The 3rd Grenadier Batallion is a semi-serious oceanic regiment that was formed on the second of January, 2016. Our main regimental focus is within the skills of line formations, volley fire drills and melee. Although we are a grenadier regiment we never stray away from playing as specialist classes.

We do not give out leadership positions out frequently and instead opt to allow members to progress through the ranks and build upon their skills as a player. When a new player joins the regiment, they are given the rank of Rekrut. After 3 events, they will become an oficial member of the regiment and thus, will be promoted to Kadet. Most of our non-leadership ranks require a melee assessment in order to be successfully promoted to them, thus ensuring that regimental skill is kept to an obvious standard.

Our Regiment's History

Our regiment historically was notorious for being absolutely merciless in hand to hand combat and notably caused several mass routs of French infantry in the battles of the 3rd Coalition War. The French were so frightened of them that in the battle of Kosera Pass (c. 1806), a Frenchman in the ranks screamed "Ce sont les Hongrois - courir pour votre vie!" meaning "it's those damn Hungarians, run for your lives!"

The Hungarian Grenadiers were elite troops and most often were kept in reserve. They were used in decisive moments as a breakthrough force or to stabilise the wavering line. The grenadiers used bayonets on every possible occassion. In 1807 the order was issued forbidding them from fighting as skirmishers.

In 1809, at Aspern-Essling, Napoleon ordered the 18e Infanterie de Ligne "The Braves" to recapture the village of Essling. Everybody knew what to expect as there were several battalions of Hungarian grenadiers. The 18e stopped the advance of Hungarian grenadiers but their own advance was also stalled. Napoleon supported the 18e with Guard Fusiliers. Together they pushed the grenadiers out of village. The Braves however paid a heavy price, Generals Mouton, Gros and Curial were wounded. Approx. 53% of rank and file were either killed or wounded. Such casualties had been enough to fill all of their ambulances. The 18e was so enraged at the heavy losses that they bayoneted the wounded grenadiers.

To join the regiment contact either Százados Rorschach or Adjutant Adolphus over steam.
