I am from Western Ukraine and we have here a very similar hero called Oleksa Dowbuš. He was our Robin Hood type here as well. I see a lot of similarities between both of them. Dowbuš and Janošyk did live almost in the same time. They used to wear an axe for a weapon. The same type of axe, (here we call it bartka) a Shepherd's axe. They share similar dress code.
