Demo Out Now!

Hey everyone, Shaun here, the dev of Lyca!

If you've been following the game, you probably know that the demo is out now! Please try it out and provide any feedback for the full release!

I've also pushed a quick patch that addresses the following:
- The tutorial is updated to make it more clear about prestige unlocks
- The default control option is changed to WASD (keyboard) + mouse instead of "Clicker mode"
- Some small bug fixes

Other points of improvement are:
- Better performance optimization in later parts of the demo
- Save functionality
These 2 things will unfortunately take a bit of time to implement but I'll try my best to put those features in!

Since the demo released 2 days ago, ~2500 people have added it to their library, ~1350 people have played it with an average playtime of 55 mins! I'm really humbled by the response, and I hope more people play it and enjoy it!

A couple of things coming up:
- Idle Fest starts tomorrow! Lyca will be a part of it, so that will hopefully mean more visibility and more feedback
- Lyca will also be participating in the February Steam Next Fest! My goal is to have an updated version of the demo by then, so please stay tuned and try it out again when it's up!

Lyca has also been featured by a couple of great content creators on YouTube like InterndotGif, Idle Cub and Wanderbots! If you want some chill videos to check out, they're a nice way to spend some time (find them at the bottom of this update)!

Bad performance in end game.

With most of the map covered in grass and flowers the performance does tank quite noticably. I hope there are plans to do something about that...

Getting past Prestige 5 is impossible

I bought all upgrades and i can not find a possible strategy of clearing grass or avoiding stones that makes it possible. It is a fun game but it slows to a crawl framerate wise and if you buy the upgrades that increase stone spawns you softlock your demo from being possible to complete...

General Feedback

Just starting a thread for general feedback. Any particular issues that aren't worth starting an entire thread for. But keep in mind that, if I didn't like the game, I wouldn't have bothered with this. This has a lot of potential! These are just some issues that were particularly jarring. - The most pressing gripe is the lack of saving. I quit a run ~halfway to completion to go eat dinner, and when I came back, everything was completely reset. 1-2 hours is hardly a marathon, but saving is still an expect...

Have been very excited to try this since I found it in the store. However, while the concept is just as lovely as I thought, the gameplay definitely has a handful of rough corners. - The saving problem has already been mentioned. The demo is short enough that one could finish it in one go, it's still not a pleasant thought though to be one crash away from having to start over again. - Terrain toughness/health seems to scale during a run, but it isn't entirely clear based on what. Time, patches grown, gras...

Talent Menu Bug (non-game breaking)

While in the talent menu WASD is used to move the menu up/down. I noticed that if I am at the upper or lower bound for the talent menu and continued holding the button it would take a similar amount of time holding the opposite button before it would start moving. I assume this is because there is a counter that continues counting up even though I am at the upper/lower bounds....
