You're like playing Megaman X basically. If you'll play as Pekora, try learning to cover more distance with rocket jumping (it's a speedrun strat too). If you'll play Marine, attacking and jumping at the same time save allows you to move backwards a bit so as to dodge point blank attacks (timing your attacks is also more efficient). It's beginner friendly, but the skill ceiling for speedrunners is as high as you can get.
