Early Access Roadmap

Before we dive into how to play Achilles: Survivor, let us show you the roadmap for what’s coming during Early Access:

We’re planning to introduce new Structures that will expand your strategic options, a brand new Talents to enhance character progression and uniqueness, Survivors with unique powers, a bunch of Powers that you can grab during each run, and an entirely new realm to explore. Each addition will bring fresh ways to play and ensure the game continues to grow and evolve throughout Early Access.

What is Achilles: Survivor?

Achilles: Survivor is a fast-paced bullet heaven game set in the mythical world of Ancient Greece. You’ll take on the role of Achilles or one of the survivors freed from Tartarus, fighting waves of enemies in short, intense battles. With each run, you’ll become stronger by upgrading your character, investing into Favors, and mastering the unique building system that lets you deploy structures to gain the upper hand.

Transform Bug

The very first time i used a forge to upgrade Chimera Spikes, I got to choose between 2 upgrades and then I had the Transform screen stuck up while the game ran in the background. I couldnt move but everytime I leveled up i could choose the level up and then i was still stuck on the Transform completion screen...

Hello Survivors!

We’re working tirelessly to fine-tune the gameplay and polish every detail. This means adjusting powers and their transformations, as well as cleaning up the menus to ensure everything is clear and intuitive. Today, we’ll give you an overview of how the game works and what you can expect when we officially move into Early Access in just one week!

Survivors

You’ll start the game with only Achilles unlocked, and as you play, you’ll complete specific achievements to unlock more characters. During Early Access, you’ll have a roster of 11 unique characters (with plans to expand this in the future), each featuring their own starting power.

Powers

Powers can be improved infinitely with level-ups, but at levels 5, 10, and 15, a power can be transformed to better suit your current build. Visual cues will indicate when a power is eligible for transformation. To unlock these, you’ll need to construct a Forge, a special structure that can be built in designated areas on the map.

Transformations

Transformations offer a variety of options to truly customize your build. Each power can have up to 3 transformations, giving you the tools to overcome the game’s challenges.

Transformations can provide bonuses such as increased damage or reduced cooldowns. Sometimes they’ll be straightforward upgrades, while other times you may need to sacrifice one stat to significantly boost another.

They also introduce special effects, like adding status damage, altering projectile behavior, or adding knockback. Experiment with these to create an unstoppable build as you play.

Improvements

Each time you level up, you’ll choose from one of four Improvements to enhance your run. If none of the options suit your build, you can spend gold to reroll for new choices—so it’s a good idea to keep some gold on hand!

Improvements can affect Powers, Structures, and Player stats in different ways, ensuring that every run feels fresh and exciting.

Minimap

The minimap is your best friend! It shows areas where you can build Structures, marks those you’ve already built, and highlights resource locations. You’ll also see where you can construct mines and find treasures scattered throughout the map.

Structures

From fiery turrets that wreak havoc to support Structures that aid you in battle, Structures are a key feature of "Achilles: Survivor". They don’t just deal damage or heal—you’ll also gain passive bonuses to further empower your Survivor.

Structures can help you outmaneuver tougher enemies, acting as terrain that lets you keep your distance while striking safely. They can also be upgraded by selecting specific Improvements during gameplay and boosting them further through Favors between battles.

Launch unplayable

Can't play the first run Achilles/Outskirts of Troy. Played demo a bunch, so imported progress/favors. As soon as you select location, UE Fatal Error. Every time. Demo was fun, but this is *literally* unplayable right now.

Early Access Review

Only completed two runs but wanted to get a review in for this pretty early to help with the exposure. I'm a huge fan of the genre and have around 20+ games in my library in this genre alone.

It's a solid bullet heaven/Survivor-like game with some small twists to make it a bit different.

I'll run down some of the key things the game brings:

You can have up to 4 weapons per run.
They can be upgraded each level, as well as increase stats each level.
At lvl 5, 10 and 15 of the weapon they get big upgrades very similar to Deep Rock Galactic Survivor, with level 15 being the most dramatic change.
Generic Meta upgrades. (Permanent upgrades from currency you collect, like Increased HP, Faster Movement etc)
Quite a lot of Characters to unlock, which is where I see a bulk of the grind is aimed towards
Lots of areas to unlock.
Achievements in-game but not on steam sadly. Maybe one day?
Mid-run events with rewards that you can only get from those events. Chests give you powerups like magnets or speed for X time, Basements give you rare passive upgrades, Rifts give you a free upgrade for a weapon. (Btw, you don't need to stand in the circle to complete rifts. Just activate it and run out, then kill things. You'll get bombarded by suicide monsters if you stay close. I lost my first run because of that.)

Now what does it do different?
It has a building system. It's nothing crazy. But you create mines (By standing in designated spots) and use those mines to gather stones.
Said stones are used to build Traps and other helpful contraptions in other designated areas.
They're also the way to build 'Forges' which is what is used to 'Tier up' your weapons at lvl 5, 10 and 15. They only become available when you're able to tier up a weapon.

It's nothing game changing or anything, but it is kinda cool to get 3 Traps near each other in a triangle and just stand in the middle to watch everything die.

Overall, if you're a fan of the genre you'll get a kick out of it. But I don't currently see it as being something I'll get sucked into for a long time like some others. Definitely worth the price tag for the content it currently has.

i have a i9 and a 4090 and this game runs like absolute trojan cheeks
i can run cyberpunk with psycho settings at a higher, more consistent framerate than this game

Early Access Review

Needs more work, the constant lagging that I do not get in other games ruins the experience and the play loop currently is a little bit boring. Will not refund because I believe that it can be better but I will definitely try again in a couple of iterations.

FPS Drops

Hello! Game feels really fun, but I have a problems with huge fps drops. More enemies at the screen - more fps drops. And it does not depend on graphics settings. I do not have such an issue in other bullet-hell games, seems like it is due to bad optimization....

super poor optimization

the optimization seems broken. the is frequent frame drops and stutter and it gets worse the more i lower the settings in options. what is going on? and its not my hardware. my comp should be able to run a game like this without any issues the fact that the fps gets worse the more i lower the graphics settings tells me that something is wrong with the game. i have 120fps with max settings but it drops to around 57fps when on low setting......
