If you're looking for a DKC-style platformer, there is some fun to be had here, but the game has some flaws holding it back from being something truly special.

I will start by going over what the game does well. The graphics are gorgeous and colorful, and this applies to the character and enemy designs as well, all of which manage to stand out as adorable. The music is also quite bubbly and fun, with several tracks that stick with you long after playing. The personalities on display for the main cast, despite being a tad one note, are also pretty amusing, and get a few good chuckles.

But now, now we get to the issues holding the game back.
- The controls can be rather wonky at times, with Niko & Luna not always feeling smooth to control. Combine this with inconsistent enemy hitboxes and occasional hard to judge platform distances and it can be pretty easy to find yourself taking damage you shouldn't have or dying unfairly.
- I encountered several visual glitches throughout my time playing, like the character being stuck in a swimming animation long after exiting the water, cutscene pathfinding having consistent problems, or the most egregious: parts of levels and enemies just flat out not loading in, causing timed "Destroy Them All" sections to sometimes require a reset.
- The loading times in this game also take longer then they should. Even just trying to access the camp to purchase items with your collectibles, you can feel the game chugging and churning. This isn't so bad when loading into levels themselves, but simple menu navigation shouldn't take that long.
- Since I mentioned the collectibles, they feel a tad undercooked here. Sure, it does feel rewarding to get them all, and being able to use them unlock stuff like concept art and in game tracks is nice, but the keys, letters and gems don't really serve a purpose outside of just wanting to 100%.

Having said all that, if you do want to hunker down and give this one a go, it's not an over long experience and can certainly be fun. It just doesn't quite stack up to its competition and could maybe use some bug-fixes.
