I'd recommend this game because it's unique and interesting. Very relaxing and reminds me of hiking. Several points were my favorite genre of game: walking around while listening to piano music

The main issue I found with this game is that it is caught between two designs
- A slow paced and punishing climbing game like Jump King / Getting Over It
- A fast paced speed running movement game like CSGO Surf

It doesn't successfully pick up the best parts of either design unfortunately. But still has a lot of redeeming qualities.

Dev you should add:
- A Viewfinder to tell how far away something is
- A HUD element that tells you which way is Up like in Outer Wilds
- Something that tells you your vertical+horizontal velocity
- Let me read how much energy I have as a number, so I don't have to guess if I can do another wall jump and then a dash or not.
- A cohesive plot
- More stuff that you can inspect throughout the game world so that exploration is actually rewarded.

Not recommended, but could change with a few patches

The general aspects of this game are exactly my kind of thing. I'm a fan of Blame!, love heavily atmospheric games, and had fun with old mods like Kreedz Climbing. The level design here is, frankly, a bit sloppy. In chapter 3 I got stumped trying to make a jump, only to find out on the forums that it is misleadingly impossible and I needed to climb all the way back out of that cave and go another way. In chapter 4 I'm figuring out how to scale around this big symmetrical pillar, finding I don't have enough stamina to make it all the way across, only to eventually find the other side of the pillar has a tiny, out of place looking platform giving you enough room to make it. There's a number of platforming solutions like these that feel like they were added as an afterthought as opposed to a believable part of the environment.

The levels do have a huge sense of scale, but they often suffer from a lack of detail. This leads to some awkward vistas where you can see the entire level play out blatantly in front of you because the other 80% of the environment contains no elements of the same scale. Compare this to another megastructure-vibe game like NaissanceE, where there's tons of little distant, unreachable pathways and buildings that makes the intended path feel like it's actually just a small part of this overwhelming structure. The levels in Lorn's Lure are incredibly long, like twice as long as you think they're going to last, though it does fit with the vibe and theme.

The way fall damage is implemented Not Fun. Too often there's a jump that looks fine but the distance threshold is just enough to kill you and send you back to the last checkpoint. I will say the checkpoints are generous, pretty much sending you back to the last flat surface you were on, but the constant restarting you'll be forced into seriously disrupts what could be a fun flow state. The climbing and movement system actually feels great to use otherwise. An option to turn off fall damage or increase the threshold would be a gamechanger.

Overall this game has a lot of promise, I just think it needs more polish in order to maintain the vibe it's going for.

THIS GAME IS SUPER COOL. The presentation is a little tired for me. Personally I am tired of the retro 3D graphics used by so many of recent indie games but I don't mind it. The dev has played around with particles and other graphical tools I quite don't understand to create a giant, crisp, and eye-pleasing world that is fun to explore while still maintaining it's desolate aesthetic. It's almost immersive sim like and it keeps you engage as your explore the world and come to understand how to move in just you are the little android in a brave new world. Ui is useful, subtle, and welcome when it's sparsely used to introduce the new mechanics you unlock.

Smart decisions where made game play wise to introduce players into a fun almost sandbox like climbing system used to traverse the set course in the level. Despite that, this game can feel like a walking simulator. And it sucks. I've played a couple and I even enjoy them but when your game is built around climbing and "parkour," walking comparably feels like a terrible chore.

Looked fun, isn't fun.

This is a very unusual platformer, in which you assume the role of an android longing to go to a better place. You will find climbing ice picks that will help you traverse the monumentally big levels.

If you enjoy retro graphics, challenging difficulty, forlorn atmosphere, inhuman megastructures, then I recommend you try the demo and see if it scratches your itch.

Super cool little game! The movement and level design is very satisfying, and the world is fascinating and bizarre. Every chapter feels so unique and left me flooded with emotions.

particularly brutal and unforgiving platforming but so satisfying when you finally pull off some crazy stuff. occasionally some things feel impossible to the point where when you finally do succeed, you feel like you are out of bounds or breaking the game, almost adding to the mystery.

this difficulty is probably off putting to some people. im the kind of freak who will sit in a surf map for hours to unwind though. so to me, this is almost an extension of that same vibe.

10/10 climbing game almost ruined by a
garbage last level

I got to an area with this massive arch/bridge. I had seen it before but not up close until then. I was so mesmerized by the scale of the structure not even being able to fit on my screen that nearly fell off the map trying to take a screenshot. I caught myself on the cliff and got the biggest sense of chills looking down at the endless void of twisted pipes and dense fog. 10/10

Lorn's lure is "Oops, all out of bounds" the game.

Does that sound like a really bad idea? Well it is, and the execution is a lot less than perfect. But I love it so whatever
