What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“DON’T GET GOT was prototyped during an internal game jam and we just could not stop playing, so we figured others might enjoy it as much - why gatekeep the fun?

Our goal with Early Access is to discover our game’s true potential and direction together with the community, as well as its limitations. We know there’s something magical here and there’s no one better positioned to help us find and build on that core than the players.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We’re expecting roughly a year of Early Access before the game is released. This is not our first rodeo and we’re confident in our production capabilities; the key remaining question will be staking out the features and scope of 1.0 together with the playerbase, which ultimately defines the EA timeline.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Frankly, that’s what we intend to use EA to find out! It will definitely have more content in terms of maps, characters, enemy types, items and so on.

Yet exactly which parts of the game will grow the most, and if we’re adding entirely new things such as game modes, or even redesigning parts of the gameplay loop will be figured out in the coming months based on player feedback.

We’re intending to use this period to test some radically different ideas, which means there may be experimental features that we try in EA but decide not to ship in the final version.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“DON’T GET GOT is fully playable both solo and online with up to 8 players. As of EA launch there is one map, game mode, character and enemy type. Internal testing tells us performance is solid on most machines. ”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. We’re releasing what we consider a very fun and technically sound prototype; it’s the framework for what will become a fully fleshed out game, but its prototype state is very much reflected in our current low pricing.

Once we’re more confident about what 1.0 looks like in terms of scope, we’ll be able to better estimate the launch price and communicate this with the players.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We’re starting small to be able to adjust to where our players congregate, and will adapt thereafter. Our initial communication will primarily focus on the steam community forums, our X/Bluesky profiles and discord.

The goal is to find a centralised location for players to leave feedback and impact game development, until then we will do our best to monitor conversation wherever we find it. Expect regular updates on steam, come talk to us directly on X/Bluesky, and please let us know if you manage a community page so we can support you!

We intend to post a first version of our development roadmap approximately 2 weeks into EA, and for the first content update to drop 3 weeks into EA. Both these updates should come with additional clarity regarding what to expect going forward. ”

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Doll-like humanoid creatures stalk you, sometime with knives. There is no explicit death animation or blood/gore. However the environmental atmosphere is dark and frightening.

You occasionally come across other players who have been defeated, their bodies are not corpse-like or bloodied, but simply slumped against a wall.
