What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

GrindFest relies on delicate balanace between the gameplay being fun enough for players to want to automate it but tedious enough to make the automation interesting. Community of players is necessary for keeping the game balanced. The core concept of the game, the scripting of the bots, relies heavily on creativity and requires community feedback to design.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

GrindFest will be in Early Access for approximately 12 to 24 months. However, this timeframe may be adjusted depending on the community feedback.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

  • Complete documentation
  • Complete Bot Scripting API that allows you to automate everything in the game
  • More fluid and fun manual gameplay
  • More biomes and areas (deserts, forests, mountains, swamps, black lands)
  • More dungeons (dwarven fortresses, elven tree cities, orcish strongholds, human castles)
  • More enemies with unique behaviours and abilities
  • More skills, non-combat skills like crafting, mining, fishing
  • More items, new item types, unique items
  • More idle progression mechanics, more Prestige, Ascension
  • Bosses to die against
  • Story to progress through and NPCs to interact with
  • Party of multiple bots cooperating

The development of the game won't stop with the full release, when the game is stable and feature-complete enough to be considered a polished game it will be released. However, the development will continue forever with new content, features, and improvements as long as the game is played by enough people.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Expect that you can lose your progress due to unforeseen bugs, in future this will be mitigated with automated testing, but currently the priority is the non-idle part of gameplay.

The game should be fun enough to play without any idle mechanics, the game should be playable using only a mouse, the tutorials in the documentation should be understandable by anyone without any programming knowledge.

That being said, the following should be working as expected:
  • Complete core gameplay loop with functional idle mechanics
killing monsters, looting items, leveling up, permanent progression through Prestige
  • C# scripting system with API documentation
  • 1 biome with multiple areas and several unique enemies and dungeons
  • Basic progression system featuring:
    - 200+ items to loot
    - 20+ monsters to kill
    - 20+ prestige bonuses to progress through
    - 30+ skills to unlock and upgrade

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No, the game will be always free to play
