Roadmap

Line War has been under relentless development after it's launch back in 2022. We have a clear re-investment strategy and an ambition to fully develop and complete the game according to the original Game Design Document.

The order and priority of the following may change.

More Single-Player Content

Now that the skirmish AI is live it paves the way for future single-player modes such as campaigns and user-created content. We will evaluate user feedback and continue to build the AI and analytics for new and exciting single-player content.

E-sports & Season Finals

Line War was created with e-sports in mind from day one. We know from experience that matches can be very interesting to watch from an observer's perspective. The average duration of a match is approximately 35 min. A global leaderboard based on quarterly seasons is already up-n-running. We want each season to end with live-streamed finals, proposedly in a round-of-32/double-elimination format. We are hooking up with commentators and collaborators.

Planned Features

The game has yet to see its fullest potential! Many more features have been planned all along and most of them can be found in the original Game Design Document. Take a look at this:

  • ADVANCED WORLD ECONOMICS - A slightly more complex, 4X-like world economy with dynamic trade routes, growing cities, and new resources. Less emphasis on pre-defined locations.

  • ORBITAL WARFARE - Rocket gets accompanied by Satellites, Suncatchers, and Orbital Killers, produced at the familiar Launchpad.

  • WORLD IMPROVEMENTS - Seamless west/east cylindrical worlds, voting, favorites, metadata, visual hints.

  • VICTORY CONDITIONS - Based on 80% territory ownership. Players get notified when any player is close to a territorial victory.

  • CAPTURE BUILDINGS - Possibility to capture an enemy building, not just destroy it.

  • INFRASTRUCTURE - Build Roads, Bridges, Fortifications, Coastal Turrets, or dig Canals.

  • IMPROVED AI - Smarter unit micro-decisions, flowfield pathfinding, keeping optimal distance for ranged fighters, etc.

  • OBSERVER APPLICATION - Watch a live match with support for switching perspectives and more.

  • ESPIONAGE - Train Spies and assign them to sabotage-, intelligence- or counter-espionage missions.

  • OPERATIONS - Use the F5 through F8 keys to record an Operation (which is basically just a grouping of commands).

  • NEXT GEN COMMAND SYSTEM - We have plenty of ideas on how to make the command system more expressive, efficient, and lean.

  • SHALLOW WATERS - Not traversable by the Cruiser and Aircraft Carrier. Degraded stealth for Submarines.

Studio Centurion is committed to the development of this game for years to come!

Our final goal is to have an all-inclusive AA- or AAA product with single-player campaigns. At this stage, LW will already be an established player in the e-sports segment.

Inspired by classic RTS titles like Command & Conquer with a nod to famed board game Axis & Allies, Line War combines elements of 4X, wargame, and real-time tactics genres into a unique strategic experience for veterans and newcomers.

Line War’s versatile control system allows players to quickly and intuitively issue commands by drawing lines across the battlefield to move units, form defensive lines, engage enemies and conquer territories. Configure your command lines to filter out certain units to flank your enemies, dig-in or feed distant frontlines.

This game has a never-before-seen approach that lets you focus on drawing commands and executing a strategy rather than managing individual units. Chain commands and execute orchestrated operations for coordinated attacks against your opponent. This command system sets Line War apart from other strategy games.

Line War features a single traditional, recognizable army to ensure the game’s focus is on balance and strategy. Each unit plays a distinct and carefully balanced role.

Line War focuses on strategy. We've designed the game around the typical RTS problems to remove the steep learning curve and need for ultra-fast micro-management so you can focus on planning and executing a strategy.

  • Multiplayer. Play up to 8 players online in duel, team, ffa, and co-op modes. All multiplayer game modes and constellations support between 0 and 3 AI players.

  • Single-player. Play together with up to 3 AI opponents in duel, team or ffa modes.

  • Co-op. Team up and take on the AIs together.

  • Draw Commands. Create movement and attack commands by drawing directly onto the map, giving players flexible control over unit actions.

  • Replay Again & Again. Randomly generate asymmetrical worlds to ensure no match or strategy is ever the same.

  • Select Your Starting Location. Choose where to begin in each world in an innovative and fair "picking phase" to gain your initial territory.

  • Focus on Strategy. Plan and strategize to achieve success on the battlefield. Actions Per Minute (APM) aren't crucial for success in Line War - strategy and planning are.

  • Conquer Territory. Expand your influence and acquire resources through territory control. The more land you have, the more you’ll be able to build.

  • Manage Resources. Produce energy with refineries and power plants for sustained mobility of tanks, air force, and naval vessels.

  • Control One Army. Line War features a single traditional, recognizable army to ensure the game’s focus is on balance and strategy.

  • Build. Build. Build. From barracks to refineries, ports to power plants, choose from dozens of unique structures. Build towns, cities, industries, and trade routes to earn resources and expand your forces.

  • Handicap system. People with different skills can play against each other and asymmetric matches, like 2v1, are supported.
