Improved Lane Connections v2

If you load an old save file that has already used TMPE, and you use this Mod for the first time, the game will get stuck in an infinite loop during loading, stuck at the road simulation step.

I guess it's the intersection lane connection function of TMPE that conflicts with it, as when I load a save file that does not use this function, the save can be loaded normally. The current version of the game is 1.81-f3, and I recommend not using this problematic module right now, although it is certainly useful.

I'm not really seeing a difference here. I still have the same problem as before, for example, a three-lane one-way street that meets another 3L-1W street and forces one far lane to turn and allows the middle lane the option to go straight and turn. I want all three lanes to go straight and only the far lanes to be able to turn. With how many 1W streets my downtown areas have, I have to manually reconfigure every street.

This good or nah? Conflicting comments here...

Great mod! Amazing job!
Lordwarblade 26 Apr, 2024 @ 1:44am
So for @zwtrccs I imagine using TM:PE to draw the turn in the bus lane will override the problem.
zwtrccs 17 Mar, 2024 @ 5:31am
this mod prevents the creation of turn arrows in bus lanes. so buses sometimes move away from its line to turn left or right
YeOl'Choppa 5 Dec, 2023 @ 2:16pm
this mod freezes the game UI when building roads with anarchy activated from network anarchy, effectively softlocking the game unless restarted.

i recommend either trying not to build any roads branching off of a straight at angles below what the vanilla game allows, or deactivating this mod entirely
Banana Split 17 Nov, 2023 @ 5:25pm
stopped working :c
Rylemsheath 8 Aug, 2023 @ 11:59pm
Excellent mod! I would recommend updating your compatibility sticker though :steammocking:
Jokes aside, this is a good mod. :steamhappy:

Yes and no. Biggest difference is that this doesn't cause any CPU load and works automatically on the background.
CreatorOfWorlds 24 Jul, 2023 @ 3:59am
Does this mod do the same as turning on the setting 'dedicated turning lanes' in TMPE?
Stealthy 5 Jul, 2023 @ 10:11pm
It works automatically. You don't need to do anything else than enable this mod.
blueberrypie255 5 Jul, 2023 @ 8:16pm
How do I use this? What key do I press to enter this mode? Is this the mod RCE used for his videos?
Stealthy 27 Jun, 2023 @ 11:31am
It works, and there is nothing wrong with it. It is so simple that it doesn't need updating against every game patch.
ryanroga 27 Jun, 2023 @ 11:19am
Seems they're unable to keep this mod up to date. Don't bother downloading.
Stealthy 9 Jun, 2023 @ 1:34pm
Yes
zin 9 Jun, 2023 @ 12:54pm
Does this mod still work?
Stealthy 4 Apr, 2023 @ 4:52am
Did you try to use "legacy"mode? That can do it when the bus stop is too close to a junction. Hence I always place stops after the junction, that way lane restrictions won't cause trouble. But in normal mode, it shouldn't cause any trouble with bus stops, at least it never has done it for me.
ilgaar 4 Apr, 2023 @ 4:40am
This mod messed up all my roads with dedicated bus lines, suddenly in every intersections bus lane arrows disappeared, and I had to use traffic manager to allow busses to go straight, turn left or right in order to make my bus routes functional again. In the end I had to disable the mod all together since it caused more problems to my public transport than it solved.
Ragnar 21 Mar, 2023 @ 5:46pm
OMG this mod is life changing! This alone is worth crossing the Harmony threshold for. Thanks Delta 5-1, and thanks for all the vanilla+ roads.
Stealthy 23 Feb, 2023 @ 6:26am
I always use default setting. More turning lanes isn't necessarily better in many cases. And as for single lane use, you need to ensure correct road hierarchy and enough reasons to use all lanes. This can actually be hindered if you add too many turning lanes since traffic tries to avoid lanes which allow straight and turning at the same time to create more space for joining and leaving traffic.

If you do 6-lane arterial and then 2 T-junctions, one to right and then later one to left with 4-lane road, this would mean both leftmost and rightmost lanes won't be used for straight going traffic in vanilla mode. However, with this mod, the lanes are correctly allocated for turning and connection to all lanes going forward are ensured.
Vadicus 23 Feb, 2023 @ 6:21am
I would also like Borracha's question answered. More turning lanes seems better in my opinion. The main problem with my traffic is that cars seem to choose one lane no matter how many appropriate options they have to get where they are going. I haven't thoroughly tested the affects of this mod however. Delta knows his shit though. A+
Borracha 22 Feb, 2023 @ 7:56pm
I did not understand what each options does in the game.

the options are:
-Default
-Legacy

but in legacy says "more turning lanes".

So, legacy is the option to choose for this mod to work??

The "How to use" above does not say anything about or it's my poor english

Ah, then thanks for taking the time to look into it :lunar2019grinningpig:
Stealthy 1 Jan, 2023 @ 8:02am
And thanks, but not my mod :) Just another happy user here.
Stealthy 1 Jan, 2023 @ 8:01am
There is no overtaking on the game. Lanes are chosen in a GPS style and vehicles will stick to them unless you alter roads. Your issue isn't caused by this mod.
Cat Supervisor 😼 1 Jan, 2023 @ 7:58am
To me it didn't look like it was related to any of that. It only ever happened when they were stuck behind this convoy that is going slower than allowed max speed for the highway.,you could see in the screenshot that there was no queing in front of the convoy. And when there is no such convoy on the highway then this issue doesn't occur. I guess the game logics simply isn't advanced enough to have them change langes if a slower car is in their way and maybe it isn't related to this mod at all, it's only that shortly after I activated this mod it was the first time I saw that happen, but perhaps that was just a coincidence.

Either way, thanks for responding that fast and providing such a great mod. I do like to do a bit of lane management by lane mathematics here and there but the micromanagement coming with TM:PE is just too much for me, also I try to avoid using mods that would break save games. But the vanilla logics suck so your mod is the perfect middle ground.
Cat Supervisor 😼 1 Jan, 2023 @ 7:56am
I use a 4 lane highway piece directly after the on-ramp if that is what you mean? https://steamoss.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2910742747
I just like it if the have a dedicated line to arrive on. That whole highway exit is not very effective but often used where I live so it's pretty realistic for me.

The next section they reach is not a highway exit but a toll booth that I haven't bothered to upgrade yet to more lanes, a little jam in front of it makes it look more realistic too :sunglassesDoge: https://steamoss.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2910744867

Although in the 2nd pic it also looks like the middle lane is preferred a bit I wouldn't worry about this, since forcing the 3 lane highway into a 2 way queue on the toll booth is a bit nasty anyway.
Stealthy 1 Jan, 2023 @ 12:38am
Cat: Show that in daylight, and show both sides, meaning the nearest ramps to both directions. It seems that you are using 4-lane road as a ramp on top of the pic, which is so wrong and can easily cause this issue.
Cat Supervisor 😼 31 Dec, 2022 @ 8:47pm
I've been mostly pleased with the results of this mod, but not so much for my highway. There is this slow convoy in the middle and everyone queues up behind it in the middle lane, why's that?

After scrolling back to comments from February, I'll try clicking the checkbox in the options menu, as I suspect that will be Delta 5-1's answer.
azuarc 28 Dec, 2022 @ 11:56am
With a little help from the forums, I found out what was causing the issue with my on-ramps -- the game differentiates between a straight arrow and a right arrow for the ramp lane. If it's straight, the entering traffic can pick ANY lane, and if it's right, they can only go into the first lane. I had a ton of straight-arrow on-ramps.

Now, here's the thing. This can happen just because of how the on-ramp is designed. With anarchy, obviously you can override the game's minimum angle limitation and end up in this situation. I certainly have in the past, and never knew what was causing it. HOWEVER...

I had multiple cities failing with this problem recently and the only variable was this mod. So I turned it off, and the traffic completely cleared after a few minutes. So is it possible that ILC is forcing highway traffic to reinterpret the on-ramps as straight arrows?
azuarc 28 Dec, 2022 @ 11:38am
I think I may be experiencing a problem similar to Wingnut. My incoming traffic FROM the on-ramp all wants to fly out into whatever lane it wants, and in the meanwhile, the forward moving traffic is either moving forward or shifting to the outside lane, resulting in massive back-ups. I turned the mod off and let the same save run, and the traffic all cleared.
NCWingnut76 12 Dec, 2022 @ 4:32pm
Thank you for the reply Stealthy. What you stated is exactly why I love this mod. It does an amazing job of helping with traffic overall. However, the issue I am referencing is when traffic tries to enter the highway from the onramp and they try to immediately got the left lane, which causes backups on the onramp if there is not an immediate opening. I also notice when using a 2-lane roundabout going into another 2-lane road. The entering traffic always wants to go from the right lane to the left lane if they want that lane, even if they need to wait for an opening, which again backs up the other traffic in the roundabout until there is an opening. I am not using any other traffic mods accept Transfer Manager CE v2.0.32, which I don't think it appears that it would impact the things this mod alters.
Stealthy 7 Dec, 2022 @ 10:44pm
Haven't seen that. On highways, traffic tries to avoid lanes next to ramps / slip roads. So if you used for example 2-lane highway there, that would be the reason why, Traffic that bypasses that ramp would be pushed to one lane only.
NCWingnut76 7 Dec, 2022 @ 2:02pm
Has anybody else noticed that when using this mod, the traffic on highways always wants to move down the "fast lane", which is not necessarily a bad thing, except, all the oncoming traffic immediately tries to get to the outside lane and causes congestion at the onramps. Am I the only person experiencing this? Did I do something wrong? Thanks for the help!
Stealthy 7 Dec, 2022 @ 4:24am
Lol. So clueless.
Professor Hardknocks 7 Dec, 2022 @ 3:18am
Stealthy, are you trying to make us all pay for a mod as DLC? Because we all know it wouldn't be a free update.
Stealthy 28 Nov, 2022 @ 5:23am
In fact, you should contact CO to have them upgrade vanilla lane allocations to use this algorithm.
Stealthy 28 Nov, 2022 @ 5:21am
Fantastic mod and works really well. Description doesn't do the best job on selling it, it actually does a lot more than just adds dedicated turning lanes. Long and short is: with this mod you get all lanes used everywhere if you didn't before without causing any impact on CPU load. Highly recommended and would be great to see it updated to latest game version to get rid of the "not written for this game version" note. Thanks for this Delta 5-1. Great work!
snottily 27 Nov, 2022 @ 3:03pm
@tecknode "Not written for this version" means exactly that. it does NOT mean that the mod doesn|t work.

I'm fonded of this mod very much, but I have a suggestion to it.
When I inspect BRT junctions with TM:PE I saw median bus lane has *no direction marks* so some of my bus route is laid a bit weirdly. So I suggest you that modifying this mod to set direction marks of median bus lane to direct all directions, not to direct no directions.
Delta 5-1  [author] 30 Sep, 2022 @ 4:08pm
Hi mireg, I haven't tested it recently with TMPE. so if there is anything in particular that makes you believe it doesn't work anymore, I would need to know more details. It does work as intended without TMPE following the latest P&P update.
giantwod 18 Sep, 2022 @ 11:02am
After gameplay with this mod i have concluded that it does not work, though this could maybe be caused by TMPE but im not sure as im not a modder
giantwod 16 Sep, 2022 @ 12:12pm
Is this compatible with Plazas and Promenades?
kian.zarrin 11 Jun, 2022 @ 1:30pm
This is only half compatible with TMPE! TMPE routing manager ignores the modifications you are making to m_first/lastTarget.
Merrlin 30 May, 2022 @ 10:30pm
Doesn't appear to save setting between game saves. Otherwise when active it seems to be working.
V_Cred 11 May, 2022 @ 1:35pm
This sounds brilliant, i'll test it!
