"Being this close to the arctic makes for a strange cycle. half the year it simply doesn't get dark, while the winters are dark almost 24 hours a day. In the distance is Snæfellsjökull, an 1800m high glacier that my wife claims to own."

Nice, I really like the landscapes and views I've seen form Iceland. Should really visit it some day. Maybe combine it with a trip through the Scottisch Highlands, some islands and conclude with a stay on Iceland. I like your wife's claim too :D
