Introduction
Greetings!

This guide will help you get the 'Heavy Brawler' achievement in Zeno Clash.

Heavy Brawler
Defeat a heavy enemy without getting hit.
Instructions
The description of the achievement is quite misleading. The main point is, of course, defeating a heavy enemy without getting hit even once. What the description doesn't tell you, is that you can't get hit during the entire fight (which usually involves fighting common enemies as well), so if you get hit by any enemy during the fight, you fail to get the achievement.

Let's clarify things:

You fail to get the achievement if:
  • a common enemy hits you during the fight
  • a heavy enemy hits you during the fight

Heavy enemies:
  • Gabel (man-eating, pig-like creature with an insectoid head and a clay pot on his back)
  • Deinother (elephant creature with a bone mask)
  • Therium (a beaver-like hybrid creature with a beak of a bird)

You can find these enemies in various chapters, and technically it is possible to get the achievement in any fight involving these enemies. However, to make things easier I recommend you choose the very first encounter with Gabel for getting the achievement.

Recommended fight: Chapter 4 - Corwid of the Free, second fight.

Chapter 4 starts with Ghat and Deadra entering the woods where they encounter the first Corwids in the game. In the first part of this chapter, you have to fight 4 Corwids (Talonco, Andro and 2 Macras). After this fight, you will play in Ghat's flashback, finding yourself in a cage with 2 Corwids (Animasta and Andro). As soon as this fight begins, you must be careful.

  • Start by fighting Animasta (the female Corwid with a metal helmet). Don't get hit by her.

  • During this fight, the other Corwid (Andro, a male Corwid with an eye-like helmet) climbs down from the cage. Be careful, he's wielding a bone "sword"! Run towards him and hit him with your elbow, so he drops the "sword". Continue beating him, make sure he doesn't land a hit on you.

  • Sometime after defeating the 2 Corwids, Gabel will charge towards the cage, eventually breaking it, thus providing you a way out of there. Make sure you wield the bone "sword" and run out in the open.

  • Start fighting Gabel. Wait until he starts charging towards you, evade him, then get behind him and hit him with your weapon. Repeat this until he gets stunned. While he's stunned hit him hard with your weapon.

  • After you've done this once, a Corwid will appear. Run to the area to the right of the cage and defeat the Corwid without getting hit by him. Basically, Gabel has a hard time getting to that area, so you can fight the Corwid without having the evade Gabel's attacks.

  • Repeat the aforementioned procedure on Gabel.

  • After the second hard hit on Gabel's head, another Corwid will appear. Deal with him at the same place and in the same way you did with the one before.

  • After both Corwids are down, you only have to repeat the procedure with Gabel once. If he's not down yet, but your weapon broke, don't worry. You only have to hit Gabel one more time.

  • If you haven't received a single hit during this whole fight, you should receive the achievement as soon as Gabel is defeated. Congratulations!

Addendum:
A lot of people recommend the first fight with Deinother at the Northern Gate Bar in Chapter 9 for getting the achievement. This fight has some advantages over the first fight with Gabel. You only have to fight 2 gang members during the fight with Deinother, so you can start beating the heavy enemy right away. If you are having a hard time doing the achievement in the first fight with Gabel, feel free to try this fight with Deinother. However I must mention that I myself have tried this fight 3 times, without getting hit by neither Deinother nor the gang members, yet the achievement did not unlock. This was only for me, I guess as I've seen videos of people getting the achievement in this very fight. The choice is yours.
Conclusion
Congratulations once more! You've earned one of the hardest achievements in Zeno Clash. This achievement is a classic example of misleading or at least incomplete description.

I hope this guide was any help to you, fellow Zenos. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them in the comments section below.

Thanks! I will try fighting Gabel after I finish the game as I've just spent half an hour fighting the elephant and I also did not get the achievement, even when I wasn't hit.
