Screenshot-Map (in-game map / in-game scale)
By FMB
Ever try finding a treasure chest with nothing to go on but one quarter of an old treasure map that has no distinguishing marks and just a tiny bit of coastline - or no coastline at all?

Well, MY map should make it at least a little easier in most cases.

Notes
- This map is the result of many hours of taking screenshots and pasting them together

- The in-game period I did this in was 1600, so some towns may not have been founded yet - but that shouldn't be too much of a problem

- The file is unfortunately somewhat large (~19 MB), precluding it from being uploaded directly with this guide. Since I was unable to get Steam to accept my PNG file as a "screenshot" either, I've uploaded it to a free image hoster and provided the link below
(IMPORTANT: should this image hoster go down or the image be deleted for whatever reason, please leave a comment and I will re-upload elsewhere)

- Although I worked as diligently as possible, some pixel mistakes may be present

- Nevertheless, since most treasure boxes (or relatives) are found at or near the coastlines, this map should make it MUCH easier to locate those spots, even with just 1/4 of a treasure map

- Some parts of the map were intentionally left blank (filled with solid color or pattern). This is because, to the best of my knowledge, there is next to no chance of treasures/relatives being found there. It seemed pointless to put in all that work just for completeness' sake.
Specifically, this concerns the following areas (although you'll be able to identify them easily enough on the image itself):
  • 1) Bermuda and the vast part of the Atlantic Ocean around it (north-eastern quadrant of the map),
  • 2) the Caribbean Sea itself (again, hundreds of empty blue screenshots)
  • 3) some parts of what is today the USA and Central America (northern and eastern quadrant of the map)
  • 4) large areas in the south-western quadrant of the map (Central America, Pacific Ocean)

- Comments, corrections and upvotes are appreciated, happy treasurehunting!
