This video illustrates a possibly emergent play-style in DmC Devil May Cry where enemies are dispatched not by whittling their health down to zero but by displacing them into pits and other hazards for instant Environment Kills.

Captured on XB1 with the Definitive Edition of the game and edited completely(!) with Upload Studio.

Side Notes
It goes without saying but Environment Kills reduce your Style score considerably since you're not racking up points by doing combos.

Depending on the game setting/platform/version, some opponents can teleport to safety before hitting a pit. However, if you can lure the opponent into doing a downward move, they will slam down into a pit with no chance of escape. Such moves (like Helm Breaker, Stomp or Drop) when done in the air with no ground below is an immediate trip to the abyss. Another option is to use (non-hardcore) Devil Trigger to paralyze your opponent so they cannot escape.

Not all hazards can kill all enemies in all situations. For example, you can jump to the other side of a laser setup and pull an opponent into it but alas, this will not kill it. In other cases, opponents that activate an invulnerable recovery state can bounce off a hazard without dying from it.

You can look in the statistics section to see the Environment Kill count. The game does not differentiate between kills you directly caused or enemy path-finding/locomotion mishaps.
