Right. Wow. Again. Very cool method of typing. Makes a lot of sense compared to other methods. But it must have taken ages to master! I learnt touch-typing just of the internet, so it tries to teach you the "proper" way, and that your index fingers should always come back to the f and j keys so you know where you are. But, not quite as good as you, I can float around, but on a fairly tight leash.

Nah, I don't look at the keyboard. Certainly is "touch typing" in that sense.

I do use the home position with my left hand, which sort of serves as the anchor, but my right hand kinda floats around relative to where my left is. I guess I just have a feel for the distance of the keys. Consequently, that means I really cannot use "ergonomic" keyboards that have a division in the middle >_>

Wow. Nice. So you do look at the keyboard? I'm just curious, but how often?

My method is hard to describe, but it is simply a natural evolution of "hunt and peck" typing. I use about 5 fingers instead of 8 (3 on the left, 2 on the right). I don't always use the same finger for the same key - it depends on the order of keys. I unconsciously somewhat optimize the key fingering. It's just a result of typing a lot. I used to spend all my time playing a MUD where typing quickly was important.

Wow. Nice. Unorthadox. I thought you were just so good at touch-typing you didn't need to touch the marks on f and j much. How do you do it then?

Also, I do not , in fact, "touch type" (which refers to specific fingering as well as not looking at the keys). Look closely at my fingers.

"We were surprised to observe that people who took a typing course, performed at similar average speed and accuracy, as those that taught typing to themselves and only used 6 fingers on average" - organizer of a study on typing speed correlation with touch typing. I'm the latter.

It's not so difficult for people that use steno machines, which are faster than touch typing ;)

Wow. Now that's fast. I bet this game is crazy difficult for people who don't touch-type.
